Avoid Ducati Omaha. Especially if you are Canadian

Post by pasophist »

I wanted to order some parts online from Ducati Omaha. I suggested that they ship by any means other than UPS (for those non- Canadians reading this- there is a long-standing issue with UPS showing up at the door with extra charges they didn't disclose to the shipper ahead of time). Ducati Omaha says: Sorry, won't help you. Get your parts elsewhere. Seems they're UPS whipped and nobody at Ducati Omaha is prepared to make any effort to accommodate a customer. I was nice, I asked three times. I of course offered to pay whatever it cost up front. I was invited to take my business elsewhere. They I guess they have enough business. Its too bad when a retailer forgets who pays the bills and customers get in the way. Even when confronted with the issue of conntributing to the Ducati community and giving them an opportunity to do something for a guy with six Ducatis in the garage, they told me they have lots of awards from DNA and don't have to accommodate individuals like me. Too bad. I wouldn't recommend Ducati Omaha. I will shop elsewhere. I recommend you do the same too- because in my opinion, this company is prepared to take your money as long as they don't have to actually make any effort to satisfy your needs.

Been to the UPS Canada hassle, I dont understand why they cant ship USPS. It is easier than UPS and does not have all the Bullshit import charges that you incur with UPS or Fedex.
So,I guess I have to add DucatiOmaha to my Fedex,UPS boycott list. So be it. BTW what part of Canada are you in, I have a sister in Iron Bridge.perhaps I can help you out?

Iron Bridge Ontario? I'm from Toronto but had to look it up. Sounds like a neat place. How did your sister get there?

I'm in Beautiful British Columbia. Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island- where some of the greatest imaginable riding roads are located.
If you're not familiar with it, check it out online and then come visit!

Thanks for the generous offer of help. I'll keep that offer in mind.

BTW- what were you offering of your sister? (!)

She and her hubby run a hunting lodge and trapping biz in Ontario. Have been there for about 30 years. They frequently mail products across the border and have a mailbox in Michigan. My brother in law also trains police dogs for the Detroit metro police so he is often crossing the he border. I Love the Northwest on both sides of the border and hope one day to call it home. Had a chance to do the coastal highway about a year ago Really enjoyed Oregon,Spent a week there touring around
Oh , My sister and her hubby are both Black belts, besides armed and dangerous and have raised 3 boys with the nearest neighbor 3 miles away and medical help much further so keep that in mind

Thanks for that, Higgy.

As you said- for postal help only!

Cheers-

NB: So why is UPS still in business with this nonsense?
I get a package a week from the US delivered by anyone but UPS, no fees, no charges, no government taxes (because they don't stop at the border to ask the feds if there is any tax they could collect). Occasionally a package accidentally comes UPS. It has brokerage fees, border crossing fees, GST that nobody else seems to collect, and usually customs fees that nobody else seems to attract.

And then UPS gets some whipped arse companies like Ducati Omaha to tag along and refuse to use anyone else- despite losing customers. Now that's marketing!

I agree, Persempre.

One of the reasons to own Ducati is to be part of Ducati community.
Dealers who cannot or do not support that ideal should not be in this business, and in my view should not be patronized.
