from the current owner:
it was a running driving bike when i bought it a few years ago,but it had low compression,so i took the heads off and found bad valve guides,i took heads and cylinders to a machine shop and he removed the bad guides and cleaned up cylinders and told me to put standard rings back in.i have new guides and a bunch of new o-rings and gaskets,but never got back to it.you are right about the fairing,someone filled in the air scoops on the sides,but i bought originals on e-bay that will go with bike. i will try to take more pictures if you are still interested.
