Delayed starting

Post by dennist »

'92 907IE. When I hit the starter button, the bike does nothing for about 1 second then gives a crank and then second crank right away and bike always starts. Just seems to be a delay in starting when starter switch is engaged. Sprang gears have been replaced. Is there a starter relay problem here? On my Aprilia we all went to a Kawasaki starter relay which put out more power and cured the problem. Is there such a thing for this Duc? If so need a maker and part number. I don't believe this to be a battery problem but I won't rule out anything. Thanks for the help.

I have the same problem intermittently. I usually put it in gear and rock the motor to get it off of the compression stroke and it turns over freely after that.
