Chain Guide Image Needed

Post by gumbotz »

Does anyone have an image of the Chain Guide that sits on top of the swingarm?

It appears mine is NOT complete and I want to see what I am missing to see if replacing, or making a new one is in order. (Sorry I cant find a image of mine. I meant to take an image of everything when I started taking it apart)

You know that plastic piece.

Thanks

why dont you e-mail me and I can send the pix to you ( cant be arsed with that photobucket at the moment ). Its one piece and the front mount bolt goes thru the tab on the front end of swing arm into a nut that is part of the plastic chain guide / swing arm protector.A stupid thing really as there is a cut away to give the tyre clearance , exposing the chain to any road grime flung off the tyre , especially in the wet where it flings water and grit straight onto the chain. I thought about moving the sprockets over a few mm's and making a new guard, probly will have to if I fit 17" wheels

Hi gumbotz. Here is the rear end of my unrestored chain guide. You will see that I have fitted a temporary spacer (a nut!) to space it over for the 180 tyre. Before the bike is reassembled this area (and the chain!) will all be cleaned and the spacer replaced with one that incorporates a shield. Hope this helps, CB.

I see the mark on your rear headder where the chain has at some stage been rubbing , mine would only do this whilst turning left ( go figure ) with just the right amount of throttle . I was convinced that I had preignition / pinking , nearly drove me mad . In their infuriating way ( women ) she , from about a hundred yards away sez " whats that funny mark on that bit of pipe ? is the chain hitting it "?........ yes dear ( now get lost while I have a wee breakdown )actually the same girl ( I tend to hang on to the good ones ) came to me with eyes like dinner plates saying that she feared her car was on its last legs and spoke of a horrible squeaking noise . A demonstration was arranged and with me fearing the worst we went to the car and upon opening the door ,she looks at me beseechingly and sez "there it is ". I did hear that door hinge squeak .................. gotta love em!
