ITS A NEW BABY!

Post by viciouscycle »

Acquired a new addition to the family: 1992 907ie...red of course :choo: . Number 001573 with about 20,000 miles on the clock. Fair to good condition that looks original except for Supertrapp cannisters and an upgraded FIM.

PO had it about 1.5 years but not running right so he took it into local dealer. Apparently dealer said valves neeed adjusting but could not find shims small enough so started "hand grinding" their smallest sizes to make fit  . PO uset when told and suggested they just put it back together without touching further and give back. PO thought problem more likely throttle bodies but I don't see that.

Never had a Ducati before. Love the theoretical concept of the desmo valve gear. Have a couple of projects first in line before this one but anxious to get this going. I live in Vancouver, BC area. Anyone know of a shop in this part of the world that knows their stuff? If the motor is as I suspect, I am thinking of taking off the heads and just sending them out for porting, valves, guides and anyother work that may be required :dunno: .

I am thinking of checking for spark, fuel, that the motor rotates as it should. Check compression and see what is involved in doing a looksee of the valvetrain rotating and maybe checking valve clearances myself if I can figure out the process. Don't have a manual yet, will get that first. Any suggestions are mucho appreciated.

After reading this forum, this project could jump the line.
Cheers,
Randy

Randy,

you will find all manuals in the documents section of the main site or in the downloads topic on top of the Paso 750 forum.
