The standard shock was rebuilt but the rebound faded out after a short period which was the original problem. I was warned that rebuilds on these are not always successful.
I purchased a new rear shock (marzocchi) from ebay for a 750/906. Prior to buying it i asked for the dimensions and compaired it to my original.
The hole centers were the same so i thought i`d give it a try on the 907. Here are some pitures.

I had to wind the preload down about 10mm using the lock nuts to set the ride height after i noticed the tyre had rubbed a bit on the plastic under guard with a pillion, that was with the extra preload wound up from the remote adjuster as well (backed right off when solo though).
The shock fells good now i think i have it sorted out. It doesn`t have compression damping only rebound at the base.
