Cam 8 degrees off? What a day!

Post by chasaduc »

For starters go here http://s781.photobucket.com/albums/yy95/Hazzardrawk/

I tired to post earlier but this photo wouldn't upload. i am sorry if pictures of purple rocks plus fish and rings appear. I made a new album for the one picture I want you to see. But the other stuff shows up. If you want the green and red diamond ring let me know. It still for sale. The picture you are supposed to see is the plaque on the inside rear left panel.

Anyway, my day consisted of way much bad. People not doing their job makes me mad. Im sorry. A hospital wants me to pay them cash money when I am covered by insurance. Then sent it to collections. The reason my insurance didnt pay it was because the hospital submitted it as "Unspecified Diagnosis." My insurance with me on the phone called them and said we need this specified. Well The hospital said in 45 to 90 day we will. A week later the hospital turned it over to the state for collections and said nope we are going to specify. Then their collection agent called me who normally leaves me a voice mail because i dont answer and I answered the phon in person and they hung up on me. Really? how many people does it take to not do their job?

But I went to the garage being mad at all this major stuff. I got my mind off of this and worked on my bike. I changed the timing belts and put the timing back in place. I shimmed the valve clearance too. I did npot have to adjust the valves thinking that almost nothing was good. I saw the plaque. Going into this project the video and reading I did said .002 was great. the plaque said that's the worst. The best was .0015? opps. I have at most .001 clearance thinking that's even better?

Yeah I dont know. My dots now line up. I heard the dots are as much as 8 degrees off?? Looking at the picture of the plaquard it clearly states that it is 6 degrees off. Nope! it says it right there. So I feel better now.

This has to be the most rediculous thing on earth! Seriously? You have to do all of this crap for general maintenance? OK I am in it for $77. What a bargain. normal bike and or car is it it for $20.00 for the shop to change the oil? i will get to that!

Now that's done and tighten down the bolts. Am I the only one who had to remove motor mounts to get the covers off?

Since 1968 this is the way of life for ducati. What bothers me the most? I'm not sure. Since 1968 people beg the dealer to do this? Or is it that Ducati advanced and added another cam on each side that you have to do this? I think what bothers me is that in 1968 (at least from what I read) Ducati did this this. Well ok. But released it to the general public? The public said YAY! Here is our money have at it!
I know what bothers me the most. Ducati is now releasing factory bikes without Desmo timing and releasing bikes without the L formation. Yeah it would be a faster speed and easier to work on. oops! It's not!

Wasnt it yamaha that released a L engine and sounds like a ducati? Track only of course too much work.

Sorry to spit out all of this hatred, but here I am wanting more! I need to change the oil and the ol filter is not available they have to email corporate offices who will read it next week and ship it after that. So I bought it on ebay today. 2-3 day shipping.

Thus my life. people want me to shop online for everything. Why leave the house? to spend gas money and go shopping online? guess so.

moral of the story! Shop online. free shipping exists! still cheaper than buying in stores!

not every set of cams is off,The fact that yours lined up is good news for you for sure

The internet is a good tool for price shopping but not always the best price. It sure does save gas !!

I seem to order more and more things from the internet because stores carry less and less things. I dont mean just bike parts I mean everything in general.
