1992 Ducati 907ie trying to fix it up

Post by Skollie »

Hi

I have bought a 1992 Ducati Paso 907 ie. The body work is completely ruined as the previous owner have fallen down a hill with the bike  . The bike have started but are running very badly(Think the timing on the bike are out). The body work of the bike got 11 different layer of paint and primer on it. Because of the condition of the bike it is unfortunately to late to restore this as a classic parts missing is just to much it has different speed on it, side mirrors are missing parts of the side cover are also missing all lights are broken or gone with the crash. Do anybody have advise of what i can do with it my thoughts was to restore the side covers and place a different tailpiece on the bike also I want to modify the screen on the bike to make it modern at the front aswell.

If anybody have tips for modification, parts please help. I am in South Africa and it is very expensive to order parts from Europe.

So if u won`t restore the broken parts, and parts from europe are much expensive... hm.... In one sour Apple, you have to bite... ;) Parts, especially Mirrors, are rare and expensive world wide.
My 907 has fallen down too. :( The fairing is broken on both sides. :,( I`ll still grind and patch the fairing and colour them up.

Make your choice.
If you love the "PASO" like the other "Pasoists" in here i think you got no choice... you have to rebuild an/your wonderful motorcycle. :D

Hi Skollie,

when you take your time you can find all the required parts on Ebay and sites like that.
Here in Holland we've "Marktplaats", where I find regular parts.
body parts are offered often for all the Paso range.

these guys offer new bodywork

you stated that parts are expensive in South Africa, is this due to Customs?

For the parts in Holland I can help you, as the seller from the first parts is only 20 km away from me.

Skollie, before you start a rebuild do a proper damage analysis. Is the frame still straight and is the fork and swingarm ? Why does the engine run badly, was there anything damaged by the crash or did i.e. a belt skip. I really hope it`s so far ok that a rebuild is worthwile.

Rebuilding a bike not to original can look like this

Hi Helge-Seins,

It's about 1.5 hours drive with normal traffic to where I live.
if you want I can help you out. Depending your choice you may pick up the parts or I can ship them
This guy is selling a lot of Paso stuff. The last time we spoke about the possibility that I support him selling parts on the forum.
