DucatiDiag,JPDiag and GuzziDiag
These are all freeware programs which allow access to the P7 and up Ducati ECU's
GuzziDuag also allows Downloading/Uploading maps with the addition of TunerPro or TuneECU which also can be downloaded and used by individuals for free
Been fiddling around with them for about a month now. Took awhile to find a combination of cables which work.
Finally found this set that is guaranteed to work with all 3 and did finally get the drivers to install yesterday and recognize the cable set.

Plan to give it a try over the next few days

Re: DucatiDiag,JPDiag and GuzziDiag
No luck so far
GuzziDiag gives an Ignition off error
JPDiag gives a com init error
Sent off an email to the company that guaranties the cable to work to see if I am missing something
Thanks Nickta for the headsup, had not seen that thread

Be careful how you hook it up - you can easily fry the ecu if you do it wrong.
Read through this link and try downloading the driver from it.

And no I've not used it myself. I have the cables and the software but I've not got around to giving it a go yet.

I read all the FTDI info as well as the trials and tribulations of many before I even attempted
There are several test programs to check the cables to make sure they are wired correctly
so far no go

What about the driver from the link ?
There's something about earthing too. I can't remember what it was, but it may have been don't earth to the battery.
You're not the first peson to have these sorts of issues with it.
That ChrisW is a bit of a whizz at it, I'd read all the posts on it by him that you can find.

Re: DucatiDiag,JPDiag and GuzziDiag
I'm actually thinking it might be the ID string since the P7 uses the older Motorola chip

I found the ChrisW bit about the earthing . .
''This is important for everyone really.
NEVER connect the black -ve fly lead to the battery. Always connect it to a good earth on the frame or engine. The red fly lead should be connected to the +ve battery terminal.
Using this system you will never invert the polarity of the fly leads and damage the ECU''

Re: DucatiDiag,JPDiag and GuzziDiag
I've been using DucatiDiag/JPDiag for a number of years and have dabbled with Guzzi Diag too and never managed to get any of them to connect with the P7 on my 907ie.
JPDiag will only connect to an IAW59M or IAW5AM. There is another software from JP called DucatidiagOld_ECU which will communicate with the 16M and P8 ECUs but it is no longer available to download.
GuzziDiag theoretically should talk to a P7. If you select Daytona <1993 as the model then the IAW P7 with PF09 TPS is selected but I've haven't yet got it to talk to the 907ie.
And Hi to MarkST whom I've known on another forum. I'm sure you will be a useful contributor Mark.

It was posted on the 851/888 forum once:There is another software from JP called DucatidiagOld_ECU which will communicate with the 16M and P8 ECUs but it is no longer available to download.

You need a VAG-COM KKL 409.1 ODBC interface and the fiat adapter to connect.
