Post by Mwmw327 »

hi new to forum I have just bought a 906, the bike is painted completely red with no white paint. just got a decal kit from image works uk and wish to remove fairings for painting the white back on, any advice on fairing removal and mirror removal would be appreciated . bike has 40000 km on it and was originally a grey color might put it back to grey one day, cheers mick australia

Hi Mick.

Welcome to the forum of knowledge for the Paso and all it's brothers and close relations.

Not much to the fairing to remove it. Remove the screen first. Not sure if the 906 had nuts and bolts to hold the mirrors on? The 907 has a plate the mirrors clip on to. Take off the side covers. 2 screws each. 4 screws underneath the motor, but only 2 have to come out. That leaves 4 on either side from the top of the fuel tank to the bottom. The top one will be into a captive nut. The rest are into Rawl nuts that mount in the tank etc. If you are brave, gentle and very delicate, you can just remove the 4 screws on either side of the tank and remove the side covers, and gently push the fairing forward a little, and this will allow the fuel tank to be removed without going the full undress mode, but be very delicate! Its very easy to screw it up when you put it all back together, and getting bits caught under other bits, and removing paint very quickly.

The grey version of the 906 is a very rare thing. Over the last few years, I think I have seen maybe 2 come up for grabs in Australia.

Take it easy and enjoy the 906.

Cheers.

Nick.

Not sure on the 906 but my 907ie had two brackets holding the fairings together beneath the engine. easily missed or forgotten if trying to lift off.
