Stay healthy and get rest while you go at 7/wk. Take extra care to avoid losing focus. :-)

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss
Recently got my new s/ hand lights and go switches and still waiting for lots of bits from s/d Germany , some parts on backorder and don't want the double postage, and the fork bling not politically correct but same as a Mk 3 lemans I had with the 38 mm marzochis and polished aluminum legs

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss
I get the fcr 41's tomorrow so I have polished the inlet ports
Internally and externally, I'm still waiting on many parts from Germany S/D , they are damn slow but if they can find some obscure bits I'll be happy, like those tapered rubber hoses to the engine breather, new indicators and a couple of small bits, I guess the choke lever will become spare parts to keep with the mikuni which I will keep working on

When I get the new clutch locator piece I will remove the clutch cover and see about getting some pictures of exactly how the Barnett plates sit and fit

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss
why did you polish the inlet ports? The surface shouldn't be too rough but it shouldn't be polished either.

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss
Brutally honest would be cause I'm not as clever as I thought I was and a mate suggested that move, on the bright side I only used some scotchbrite and water so maybe didn't alter the surface that much, I'm living and learning , thanks your knowledge seems endless
Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss
Yeah the surface roughness helps with fuel/air mixing (micro turbulence). port matching is a bigger issue because repeals can change the air speed in undesirable ways. standard green scotchie is pretty smooth though... actually just realised i don't know if everyone uses the same colours for scotchie grades: green, cleaning things - grey, taking the gloss off paint (about the same as dry 600 grit) - red, taking paint off (about the same as dry 400 grit)?HIGHWAY89 wrote:on the bright side I only used some scotchbrite and water so maybe didn't alter the surface that much, I'm living and learning , thanks your knowledge seems endless

Do you recommend refitting these inlet ports or trying to source a non vandalized set
