Rear tail fairing help
Rear tail fairing help
Hi, of course this is the least of my problems but .... on my rear tail fairings I just have small rubber covered threads. Can anyone tell me where to get the parts needed to secure this to the tank or even send the dimensions of the tabs so I could attempt to fab a few up. I'd appreciate any help here. Thanks guys!
Re: Rear tail fairing help
I tried to attach pics of what I have . I hope it works

Re: Rear tail fairing help
Are you talking about the rear side lower fairing or the actual rear seat pod unit at the rear of the bike?
I am assuming these are the lugs that clip into the lower part of the tank left and right side, they are commonly missing having been snapped off. Possibly yours have had threads put into them. They are pushed into and held onto the tank with rubber grommets ( Honda have an excellent replacement for the grommets which I will try and search here for the model number).
I imagine someone has tried to create this dynamic here or maybe fiddling with a big penny washer and nut?
I may also be barking up the wrong tree?
Have your a more panoramic photo of the fairing?

Hi Englishstiv, Yes, you are correct about the cowl panel I'm referring too. I guess Im ahead of the game if one of the previous owners added threaded studs after the secure pins broken off. I was just assuming all panels had them and it was as easy as screwing a new pin on.
Of course I'm missing the tank grommets too lol. I have a few different oval ones left over from a Yamaha project but they're not a good fit. If you can find the Honda # that would be great! Thank you!!
I'll try to attach a better pic. Im having trouble getting the pixels lower on my pics so that they will upload.

Re: Rear tail fairing help
This parts has no bolts in that place, there is some plastic plug that fits in a rubber grommet in the lower gas tank.

Re: Rear tail fairing help
Hi.
As Stiv has already said, these are usually a plastic lug that is held in place with a rubber grommet in the tank. The rubbers are still available from Mr Ducati. The covers of my 907 have had the lugs cut off and filed back so they don't even look like they were ever there! A couple of the panels on my 907 have been replaced over time (previous owner), so there may have been an alignment issue with the different bits and pieces?
Cheers.
Nick.

Re: Rear tail fairing help
Hi Nick, when I look up the part on page 72, #4. 037083020. The tank "grommet" comes back as a pad and not as a grommet. I'd hate to order something that I don't need lol.

Re: Rear tail fairing help
That is one of the mistakes in the parts catalogs. That number is actually the same as the one for the the rubber buffer which is located on the lower frame rail. Two different parts, same part number. What you are actually looking for is #036191730. (see P750 & 906 parts catalogs)

Re: Rear tail fairing help
The rubber mounting grommets are of a standard size, and you should be able to get them at any well stocked hardware store.
