just looking at all that and gotta mention that you still use car bog for the main filling, the knifing putty is only for the final light fill

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss
I'm at it again, all the bits are primed like this now, just finished half hour ago, I'll let that sit for a while in the sun tomoz and then sand it, hopefully get around to basecoat on Sunday, then it gets a bit tricky as I'm sure I took some measurements but lost them ( small detail , where the white goes) I think after the red basecoat I will need to stop until Justin finishes (starts) the engine rebuild , so I can set it up for ping the lines basically, a trap holding her up prevents me from dummy run on the seatbase but anyway I'll get there.

Sorry Randcastle I just realized what you meant, I have a conventional spray gun setup, gravity fed with a compressor

Well you gotta laugh, I have drilled out one of the holes in this fairing too big, waha that's xxxxxx, I think I need to backtrack a little, thought everything was coming together too easy

Thanks Highway. Very cool on the equipment: nothing fancy, just thoughtfulness, acquired skill and tenacity: my approach to problems/projects as well. Thank you again for every post. Best Wishes...

Got it to this stage ,one fry up on the right fairing, I'll address that during the week, guess I should have masked off the basic white areas, I think the rest is ok for a 1200 grit w/d sand, not sure now whether to finish all the bits red and decals only.

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss
It turns out the fryup was caused by too heavy spraying between coats of the red basecoat, saw the boys and gave me what's called , rub through primer , as I'd rubbed the fryup right back to the gelcoat, this worked a treat with some light sanding and patience applying multiple light coats of rub through primer and then more red. I had about 3 small areas on 3 panels to fix and now it's all looking ready for next stage. The rub through primer is in an aerosol so you don'tneed to mix up and clean gun for small problems

I'm pretty much going to clearcoat everything next , the front guard and bumstop cabn be finished, and I'll finish the top fairing as it only has the small decal. The fairings and seat rear seat cowl I will also clearcoat but only a couple of coats, that way it's all safe and protected till I do the white and decals on them.

Re: Oil leaks 89 900 ss
This next stage of sanding is done with not wet and dry as I thought. It's a soft pad, done dry, very fine grade , then a clean down before clearcoats
