Hi Higgy,
I think your answer is not one for this thread. Charging problems I do not have. I have replaced the battery and al the 30+ year old thick wires for brand new extra thick wires. A new V/R finishes the job.

I expect this is due to the steering head angle. If the head angle is too steep the bars will shake. Try and reduce the spring pre-load on the rear shock absorber ie drop the back end a little.
