This Januarys issue of classic bike has an article on Renzo Pasolini’s tragic crash at Monza. Massimo Tamburini named the Ducati Paso in memory of his friend Renzo. In May 1973 he and fellow rider Yarno Saarinen were both tragically killed in a crash involving 14 riders in 250 Gp. This lead to a massive shift in Gp safety in the following years to help reduce accidents.Renzo Pasolini was predicted to be an all time great in racing.
When people compare Giacomo Agostini with Valentino Rossi they need to remember that the early racing was far more dangerous than racing in the last 20 years! Every season would see the loss of a great many racers, I think Agostini’s skill is underestimated.
