A weak spark

Post by Fry »

Hi guys,

Have had a few problem with my machine the last couple of times I have been out on it. To cut a long story short I have narrowed the problem down to what I think is a weak spark being generated at the spark plug.

Can anyone give me a hint on what can cause this ??

here are some more details:

ok... bike has run like a dream all summer but all of a sudden since the weather has turned a little colder the bike has twice stopped after driving about 50 meters but I managed to restart both times. 2 days ago I started the bike, drove 50 meters engine stopped and I tried to restart it but could not and have not been able to retstart it since, have checked all obvious things and found nothing, but the spark at the spark plug is very weak on one plug and nearly non existant on the other. Both plugs are 6 months old.

When? At startup??

You should take a look at the FAQ at the top of the forum. In there you will find a thread that has to do with starting and low voltage at the coils.

Question wasnt so "clear" to me, cause my home language is Finnish, but i give good advice: Measure voltage at coils and if its not close to 12V, then add one relay more to coil system and "viola, coils have enough voltage"!!! Simple, if electrician, like me... (much more easier to live with Ducatis...)
