Yep, orange it is. No ill effects after cutting same. Now that I have an Odyssey battery, I have re-connected the clock, will see how it goes ...

so....now all ya gotta do is connect a switch between those sections of the wire and then you can turn it on/off at will huh? :wink: i like that idea......and dont ask me how i know but.....invest in a "GOOD" battery tender cause a cheap one will kill your battery :,(

doug(whose 907 is currently on the table for a few bits of work and will prob get this "orange' wire switch mod while the fairings are off)(and a new Odyssey PC535 battery)

I cut the orange wire on the six-wire plug and shieldewd both ends. The clock stopped. No side effects occured.
Thinking about same operation, thx f sharing that info! :)

I think there is only 2 possibilities with Ducati: You disconnect battery very often("clock taking current from battery"!), OR buy very good battery charger to keep battery allways up.... I use such battery charger and i change it from one Ducati to another every 1 week, or so..... no problems till battery life is at end... :smoke:

Confirming that cutting orange lead to clock works w/o any other things happened.

Wow! I must be incredibly lucky. I put a new battery on mine about 8 months ago and it sits sometimes for a week or over, no tender or nothing and it starts right up, no problems.
I really don't agree with the disconnecting of the clock, to me it's like amputating a finger because you have a nail problem or something like "the surgery was a success but the patient died" ... :smoke:

just my humble opinion, so whatever floats your boat ....laterzzzz

Had some sprag problems so wanted to b sure of good juice fr battery.
Will get a switch f my clock as I miss it already.

I agree 100%.
I'd never cut any wire on my bikes.
Sooner, I'd disconnect the battery.
In fact, the batteries of my bikes are disconnected, now :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( .

I recently had a electrical issue with my 750SS that with the help of some forum members I was able to trace and repair myself (regulator). I learned quite a bit during that "event".

If I may suggest:
1- make sure you have a good battery, I mean a really good and appropiate battery to begin with.
2- inspect and re-inspect your wiring, especially the ground cables, plugs, splices, ect. (make sure they are tight and clean)
3- check the charging system (stator, regulator, ect.) for proper charge loaded and no-load.

I do this to my '92 907 and like said before it'll sit for a week or more and then starts immediately, no problems.
If I were to leave them sitting for a extended period of time (months) I would then disconnect the battery or consider a tender.

Maybe I'm a bit attached to the clock on my 907 as my other Duc doesn't have one and I miss it when riding the 750 :cool:

It's so. 2/3 weeks of sitting wouldn't be a problem if the battery is good enough.

When I need to disconnect clock from battery (long stand-by ) I just unplug the related fuse

Not only for the clock, but when the bike is standing by in your garage...You don't need ignition or injection!

I always disconnect the battery so that I can start the bikes when I want to have some little trip.

Just turn on the main switch and disconnect each fuse until the clock stops! :D
