Ian,
fantastic news

Keep that mechanic, buy him beer, women or whatever it takes! It is so hard to find anyone that knows about electrics.
A mate of mine took his ST2 to Fraser's at Newcastle a month ago with new battery that went flat while riding. They told him it had a dead battery! He asked what caused it. Next day they said the regulator was not working. $AUD198 Thank-you.
He brought it back to my place and found it had blown the 40amp fuse. That's why it wasn't charging.
The regulator was overcharging, causing battery to run dry and melting wires with heat, causing fuse to blow. So Phil Hitchcock at Road & Race (good bloke for parts and service even over internet) Supplied a regulator, put his battery on a deep-cycle charge, and everything is perfect.
Thanks Phil

....Fraser's....just stick to changing oil...
