That tool is just right, if need to WELD such plastic, but need to have just right plastic to add also, so then U must know exact, that material is that expansion tank... If tank is different material, then it dont function, like should.

I'm searching here for a craftsman in plastic weldings.
Should I buy a welder for a few little welding?

I think, better use such guy, who really knows, what to do and then give all what needeed to weld to him and pay little. Its very rare to need such weldering machine, cause that heater is designed ONLY to plastic welding. Surely U find such guy from Roma !!! (one of biggest "metropols")....

But surely that glue gun is very usefull tool for many other purposes and they are very cheap...

I agree at all.
But, when I ask it to someone (ironmorgers, mechanics etc.) they see me like I was an UFO.

You are right.
Today, I have take out the reservoir.
Then, I've replaced it with the one I had, and I changed the liquid (awful stuff: the reservoir is not the highest part of the circuit, so to fill it, it needs raise the reservoir).
All in all, the reservoir isn't broken and don't leak at home. I'll repair it.

...living WITH Ducatis is onekind "lifestyle", what is MOSTLY FULL of allkind repairing and suffering with all things, so we say here in Finland, that driving with Ducati is normally 10% and repairing/fixing is about 90%, how we use your freetime with bike.... :funny: :funny: :funny: Ducatis are not for such guys, who ONLY want to DRIVE motorbike !!!!! Anyway i have thinked many times, can some BMW be more "easier"(read: "viser") motorbike? :laugh:

After summer discussion here: "Honda man" asked: "where U visited"??? Ducati man say back: "Nowhere, cause had to fix Ducati all time", so winner was Hondaman.... :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

But, I sold an Honda Hornet 600 (only one time she didn't start: after 4 years the battery - never serviced and never disconnected - was a little bit tired by the winter). Boring bike.
Then, I bought my 907. I'm happy

I just came across an adhesive that should work well as an alternative to plastic welding. You can check out Masterbond X 17 below. The tank is most likely Polyethlene, closely related to Polyproplene and hard to adhere anything to. I would not waste your time with hot melt or fiberglass. This adhesive specifically bonds to that family of plastics. My tank was plastic welded several years ago, but I don't know by who. Let me know if anyone tries this method,

as I told, I found out my reservoir wasn't broken, only bent, no matter that could be a good fixing system.

My tank developed a pinhole and now sprays coolant when the motor gets above 200 degrees, so this has become a priority. Here is what I have found so far:
Plastic welding: no local sources found, my friend and I have played with a hot air welder and would not attempt mucking with this tank!
Plastic adhesive: I contacted Master Bond, their XP17 product made for polyethlene has a burst strength of only 10 pounds and costs $450 per quart. They recommended 3M DP-8010 adhesive. Available from the 3M store for about $20. http://www.3mestore.com/62278304308.html
I have bought some of this and will let you know how it works.
Replacement part: I have a picture of the Aprilia Pegaso 650 reservoir. It has two fittings, one in front and one in the rear. The ideal replacement for the Paso would have two fittings off the back and eliminate the Y hose that is becoming hard to get. I would love to hear what others have fitted, even if it is Japanese :laugh:

I resolved my Coolant tank problems this weekend (and future Y-hose availability). I will submit an article on this shortly, but the bottom line is coolant tanks should never have to hold pressure! Install a filler neck from a 95-98 Honda CBR 600F3 or CBR 600SE above your radiator and repair your coolant tank with Goop. This bonds well to the tank and will hold up provided it is not under pressure!
