I think 17 or the rear and 16 on the front is a bad idea. The geometry will certainly be changed too much and might make the bike unstable. If you make the conversion, then do both.

I had got a Honda Hornet with the 130/70 16" front wheel.
It was a very light to ride, even if at the highest speed... ...the handlebar used to shake me!!!
Later, the Honda fitted the 17" on the front wheel.
I never rode it but, if they changed it, they will have had some good reason...

I think, that if make 17" conversion, then must change both, front and rear wheels....
