PERKELE!
Hey, watch your language, Antti.....

More injector info:
Green ones are OEM in 851/888/750SS (not sure of which years 750).
And most likely some cars from late 80`s-early 90`s.
First one who comes up w a Weber spare part number wins a price!

high priced Weber injectors

Post by blakduc1 »

Well went to NPR Ducati yesterday and priced the green Weber IW-031 injectors for the 907. They said >>>..........##...>>>.$ 200 US each!!! Evidently they have gold coils inside :0

So Then I went to see a guy at a local garage that knew about injectors and he commenced to working on them to get them unstuck. After half a day he got one to start clicking nicely when current was applied. He used brake cleaner and compressed air and current and I don't know what else. By the end of the day the other one was starting to click weakly. I worked on it some more last night after I got it back. He charged me $35 and I guess it was worth it if they will work properly in the bike.

Now I will re-install them and try the starting again. Wish me luck.

As a side note , I started looking for alternate injectors and learned a lot about them. I have some websites I can share. One is "www.witchhunter.com" , which is a company in the USA that will take the injector and ultrasound-clean it and refurbish it for $17 per injector.

If mine do not work well that will likely be my next step.

I found out that several cars use injectors that look exactly like the webers in the 907. But I have not yet found out the flow rates on them to know if they can be swapped.

If anyone has specs on these injectors, or can cross-reference them to Bosch or some other make, please share that.

Standard Motor Products makes injectors that fit the following and look like the ones in the 907 (see website http://www.smpcorp.com check application, start with year model, them vehicle, etc):

Ford Taurus, '92 : injector no. FJ690, FJ73, FJ712
Ferrarri Mondial, '90-'93 : injector no. FJ162
Alpha Romeo 91-93 : injector no FJ518
Porche 911 , '89-'94 : injector no FJ162
Ferrarri 348, '91-'93 : injector no. FJ162

If we can match flow rates for any of these to the Weber IW-031, then I believe they should work in a 907ie. There has to be a substitute out there somewhere. Come on, some of you European Porche guys or 911 tuners must have detailed info on the Porche injectors...

Borgue Warner makes one for a Ford taurus , part no. 27031, that looks the same as the weber but has a different -looking tip.

Any info will be appreciated.

The IW-031 also has another number, 0230/02.
Guess just a Weber no, not actual spare part nr.
Anyway, maybe it helps someone.

I think the ST2 also have the IW-031 injectors. A complete body kit can be found on ebay for less than 100USD.

I bought a injectorbodykit from a ST2 for my MegaSquirt project and the injector is IW-031/green.

The add did not tell from what year the bike was, but probably an early ST2.

So, seems, that early ST2:s use same injectors, as 907. I think, not so difficult to find them. Plenty of wrecked ST2:s in world... I try check those codes from microfilm one day....

Just checked the available parts list on Ducati.com

All ST2 EU/US have the same injector, 280.4.002.1A, y2000-2003.

Could not get any pre 2000 part list.

success!!

Post by blakduc1 »

After getting one injector to start firing again out of the bike, and the other one I thought was beginning to fire a little, I put them back in and cranked the bike. It ran on only one cylinder( Exhause pipe for one was still cold). The other one did not begin to work after several tries of running it a little. So I took it back apart and took bad injector back out. Then I soaked it in Sea Foam penetrating oil product called Deep Creep overnight. I took the rubber collar and the O-rings off to protect them. All the paint came off the injector body but it did not fire the next morning when current applied. I kept working it, tapping it , etc. but it would not click. Then My girlfriend came into the basement garage and as I was showing her the injector I dropped it onto the concrete by mistake. Did not seem damaged. Shortly after that it started clicking faintly when current applied! And it got better as I sparked it more and put more carb cleaner in it.

So.... I reassembled the bike, put the tank on, and fired it up. At first, only one cylinder but in a few minutes the other one started working and the pipe heated up. --- Success!!!!

But I still wish to find an alternate aftermarket injector or perhaps ones from an ST2 for future use in case these fail or do not perform well.

As a side note, the local Ducati shop informed me that the $200 price was for used injectors. New would be over $300!! --- Insane.

So please, let's keep searching this out. Thanks guys for your help.

An alternative to the green injector could be the yellow IW025 injector. Static flow should be 268 cc/min, so very close to the 270 cc from the 907.
This injector was used in some fast Ford Escorts, like the Cosworth if I'm not mistaken. Any Cosworth specialist should be able to help you out with this.

Marelli part number for the IW025 is 214300200310, aftermarket supplier Meat-Doria part no. 75112025.
