According to RH Motoradlacke who has a monopoly on motorcycle paints in Germany there`re the following reds:
'84 M.H. Replica II
lighter red -'90
red '91-
red -2002
Senna '95 rims
So the change of red should have come with the 907ie (Antti ?!)

Thanks for all the information. My bike is a late model (first registered in 1990) and so apart from the seat, which has obviously been recovered, I am happy that the remaining parts are as accurate as it gets. I have arranged to have the seat covered in red after Christmas and the red grips will go at the same time. Interesting that the local auto upholsterer had Ducati red in stock having been asked to order it in by someone from Peterborough - any chance it was someone on the forum?

Very early 750s came with the Öhlins rear shock while then it was switched to a Marzocchi unit.
Mike,
I`ve never seen a Paso with the inner part of the windscreen black
I have Öhlins(early modell) and i have those golden valve covers and that removable clip(late modell), chromed rear handle, black steering upper part, not "controlled air flow" decails, Kokusan system, Black/silver wheels, 520 chain/sprockets, 40mm pipes, so i think STILL, that there came very many different versions in details....
Btw, i have never seen black coloured inside of front fairing, all have been red....

You are right, my 750 Paso was much lighter red(before i repainted it to darker red), than my 91 modell 907IE, what was darker red. And my 2001 ST2 and 2002 ST4S are again diffrent red, than 907IE. Surely, if bike have sit all time in sunshine, that red gets much lighter, Its one of WORST colour to get UV light from sun and change its chracter. Ihave seen that also in my red Astra...
....and i think, that 906 red was still same , as 750 red, cause 2 of my friends 906's look quite same lighter red, as "original 750 red" This i havent check VERY closely, but i think, its so from my experience. Never can trust those colours in fotos, because many cameras change object colour and also printing change colour.

Do they have any CODES for those red colours, G-man ????? It would be good to have some code info also in TECH section, but there must put ONLY such details, what are confirmate from some source, that we can trust them...

Hey, remember, that it TOTALLY another thing, WHEN Your bike was registred FIRST time, than is it early, or lateter version!!!!! I have seen also some EARLY Pasos(by VIN number), what have been registered to street VERY late, like 90, or 91 !!!!!
They send back from USA markets plenty of 750 Pasos to Europe, what they didint managed to sell there in "early years" and in Europe is plenty of such "usa" modells, what are registerd very late.... I have seen!!!!
They make "too many" 750 Pasos and they had problems, cause came "new 906"and then "907IE" and they still had many 750 Pasos in shops and they had to lower price alot to managed to sell those 750 Pasos.

When did the Marzocchi M1R forks get painted to black? My '87 fork legs are aluminum and appear to have never been painted, but the '88 rolling chassis has painted sliders on the forks.

they always were anthracite. Maybe they come from another bike ?
Antti, no codes on their page, just ordering numbers (but they sell original paint meaning with basecoat and topcolour) (btw your bike is strange, a total mixup
According to Ian Fallons book 750 Pasos up to frame No. 750130 had a 5/8x3/8 chain while from framenumber 750131 a 5/8x1/4 was used.

Redmidget is this all a bit

. Well the good thing from all of this is you can pick out all the things you like best and it will still be considered original.
My personal preferences are dark red and gunmetal, polished aluminium triple clamp and grab handle, gold tappet covers, not to many stickers, and I have to say a paso looks better with two stainless cans that are at least as long as the original black ones. I think the 16" wheels are all part of the look but that is another story

The thing for me is to get out there and hear, feel see and enjoy the bike.

Marinus,
My Paso was already fitted with replacement straight-through Conti silencers in chrome when I bought her. They looked superb and sounded even more so...! Not objectionably loud, but much deeper and more pleasing tone than the standard black "mufflers".
I've never seen another Paso with the Conti's fitted; none of the bikes in the gallery appear to have them either.
When I have a few moments spare, I'll post some pictures on the gallery. - Can anybody give some hints on how to do that? I found the tips on putting an image into a post but couldn't find the info "in the FAQ" which was mentioned.
Also, redmidget, I had my seat recovered by a local coachbuilder and upholsterer. I gave him a picture of a Corbin seat from the internet and he replicated it for me, having a black cover at the front for the rider's part, and a red cover for the pillion part, delineated by a tasteful white rolled pinstripe. See the 907ie gallery, 000115 and 000011, for a similar-looking seat cover.
These colours made the bike look even more classy, with a slight "single-seater" look about it. But maybe you just want to return yours to the standard colour?
Also, being 6'-2" tall, I found the standard seat pushed me too far forward into the cockpit, so I had about 2" of the foam cut out from the front of the "bum-stop" before it was recovered. This made the riding position far more comfortable.
Cheers!
Dave.

Hi Dave
I'm 6'3" and have a similar experience with the seat. I need to get mine recovered as well. I had also saved a few photos of a Corbin and others with the slit covering that I like.
I have also had a similar experience with the gallery so can't help you there.
Good that I'm not the only taller person on a Paso.
Cheers M

Marinus, is your inner side of the front shield black or is it just the shade in your avatar ?

I agree You with those M1R fork colours, i havent seen ever any other, than antrasite/(gun metal), never black, or silver ones...

It sounds like one set of my forks were stripped of paint, and the other set had been repainted black.

Mike,
I`ve never seen a Paso with the inner part of the windscreen black, but as it seems there`s more than one thing I didn`t see yet
Are you sure about the different red ? As far as I know it only changed from 1990 on. My own Paso is a California bike (but with Kokusan, nor Marelli ignition) and although all stickers look like new the colour is faded from the sun and goes more towards orange than red (like your front one). If ie. the tailfairing is removed one can see that it originally was a much brighter red. Couldn`t this be the case on one of your bikes also ?

the paint on mine is not faded as far as I can tell. It has very low miles. I've seen this situation with several pasos in the past... but like someone said above, most of these bikes can be 'unique' as they were hand built. it could have been the paint mixers mood, the quality of the primer, how much time the paint spent in the oven, who knows... but there seems to be a consistently lighter red on the later bikes.
