It looks like your engine cases survived, maybe thanks to a "case saver", the steel strapping ahead of the C/S sprocket. Neither my 907 nor S4R had these, so I added them, ordering from http://www.desmotimes.com, a worthwhile investment: "Desmo Times Case Saver Insert - $22" (He also recommends drilling/lockwiring the screws that hold the sprocket holding plate in place.) (Apologies if this has been written up a lot by all the others vastly more knowledgeable than I.) (Also, "some people" hold that O ring chains don't need much or any lube since the rollers are lubed and sealed. What's anybody think? n.b., I clean and lube my chains obsessively, following the desmotimes ritual.)

And thanks again to all those who are not native English speakers for writing English on the forum, better than my Dutch, that's for sure, despite many trips to NL, where everyone I meet speaks English, and often two or three more languages.

Still, I've been wondering about "exenter" in your posts ... hmmm ... "eccentric" maybe, like for adjusting the chain?

ps, i use one of those dry lubricants for the chain, comes in a spraycan, jus a little every 500 km and its fine, its only a bit expensive but it beets al the chain greases that eventualy goes from the chainwheel to the tire

Just thatkind i have 6-7 eves/week in my garage with my Ducatis....

Today i have made steel braided rear brake and clutch lines(with new red STM slave) and put liquids in & bleedeed them to my ST2. Tomorrow is coming front brake lines.... ..maybe some small thirsty feeling after one bottle of Gin....

sounds like the one i use, again, from desmotimes:

"Teflon Dry Chain Lube - 11 Oz. spray can - $7.49 each.
The best non-fling chain lube I have ever come across is Dupont Teflon lube. I use it on all my Ducks to lube the chain and sprocket contact points. It leaves a chain looking brand new, repels water and goes a long way." (quoting LT Snyder here.)

The label on the can reads "Dupont Teflon multi-use dry, wax lubricant "

i use the xeramic, and i quess i shouldnt complain about the price because you really dont need much.

The excentric is splined onto the axle , and there is one spline missing so that the excentrics can only fit on one way thus keying the two excentrics together.If you loosen the swing arm pinch bolts on one side and remove the ally nut of the other end of the axle , using a punch you can then drift the axle and one excentric out leaving the other excentric in the swing arm . While your at it I would recomend removing the swing arm pivot bolt and giving it a good clean and grease , mine was rusted in so bad I had to beat it out , care must be taken here , not to spring the frame

The axle on my Paso 750 is completely splined, so I have to be careful how I install the two eccentrics. On the other hand, my spare axle assembly is missing that one spline for simple eccentric alignment. I'll probably switch to using my spare axle, the next time I have to remove the rear wheel.

while youre busy, is it possible for you to measure the axle thickness for me? probably its the same for the 750 as the 906 but i want to be sure.

ive got a new 17 x 5.5 wheel from a 900 ss for the paso but the bearings are for a 17 mm axle while the paso is around 21 mm.

probably i have to get other bearings, but im looking at different solutions. also because the bearings are brand new, would be a waste to replace them

Tsubaki chains are rubbish, stretch stretch stretch. I don't think much of 'O' ring chains either. They are OK for a summer but once the inner lube is dried out they sap a lot of power. I use DID super NZ 520 non 'O' ring. Super strong. Like the bike, how have you modded the headlamp?
