Frustration! back to square one, I guess they had more than one of the throw out bearing assys. I dismantled mine. first I had to remove a seal which had to be destroyed to remove, then I found a circlip holding the bearing/mushroom in. I say bearing /mushroom because they are the same part. a single machined part that is the mushroom (button) and the upper bearing race all in one. the bearing I bought online isnt even the right diameter. it appears to be a whole different animal. after you pull that out you look down into the piston and you see the ball bearing uncaged in the lower race which I guess is part of the piston. any way Iim guessing that I'm going to need an entire assembly now. I need a beer

Thats the one, for anyone following the other thread the piston pictured is the carbon copy of the one in my bike. so I would say they either had a s.n. break on those or maybe a later replacement was different, at any rate all the information about the other style doesnt appear to apply to this different piston/bearing assembly. I feel like this other style unit is not very friendly to fixing or rebuilding. for one thing the seal gets destroyed taking it apart and the races are built into the piston and button so to replace bearings and races you pretty much replace everyting. any ideas on sollutions to this problem. Im thinking that replacing the whole unit might be the only practical solution. is this part still available??? my local ducati dealer isnt the greatest to work with on paso parts, they just say sorry that part number isnt any good anymore and thats where it ends. I'm getting dizzy John

I`ve seen a few dry clutches over the years, but noone had this kind of piston. What outer diameter and height is it ? If its 26mm you could probably switch to the one mentioned in the FAQs, but you would need a new mushroom pin as yours looks quite a bit longer than

well I used my standard dial caliper and converted the measurement, the piston diameter came out to 25.907mm which I suppose is 26mm and the height came out to 22.860mm. I suppose I should start searching for a piston assy. and I guess I will have to have a button machined (I assume the piston assy. does not come with the button)??? anyone got a button for sale????
I missed a lot of good riding this spring. the temps have been up around 105f this week.

I can probably get a buddy of mine to machine another button. He made me one a few months ago.

yes, that one. 19590023B
It`s 26mm diameter, 19mm high. Here it costs about $30. It should be moretheless the same whereever you live (add your location to your profile)
That`s the cheapest option.

You`ll need to buy the bearing extra. SKF 608-ZZ (same as -2Z, both means: both sides metal shielded). That one`s cheap, too. You may find that also where they sell inline skates. All you`ll still need is the mushroom pin.

Looking through a catalogue I found a picture of the 19520011B I had also mentioned in the FAQs. That one actually has the same thick side walls as your piston. As it costs $170 and more I would take the other one. I`m using the 19590023B myself. (use your old spring if the one of the 19590023B is any different)

a. it seems so as that is the actual picture from a catalogue (but I don`t see why it`s worth over 5x as much as the other one as a bearing will cost $5 and the pin will probably be only a few bucks for the coffee kitty of your local machine shop)

b. the parts catalogue lists two part numbers. One is made of bronze (#037016730), the other one (#067016730) like on the pic above ... I don`t know.

c. add at least your country to your profile

PS: does anyone know what "f.m." and "d.m." in the part catalogue means ?

f.m. = up to frame number
d.m. = after frame number

Like the factory kept track!

By the way, the thread has given me a HUGE headache. I cannot keep track of what was going on... Can someone try to summarize the different pistons so we can place this in the FAQ??
