In U.K. its dark green, like Lotus cars had earlier (before came this "marketing" with cigarette companies just in late 60*s). For my opinion, Italian motorbike (or Ferrari, Alfa, etc. HAVE to be "Italian racing red". Thats why all my Ducati's are RED (mainly)

Jap motorbike can have whatever colour, as it is for big markets....

Apologies Francesco BLUE is Italy's racing colour not red.

Red is the colour of Scuderia Alfa Romeo where Ferrari came from and took Rosso Corsa. And red is the colour of Scuderia Ferrari.

Blue is the colour of Italy's racing teams as in Maserati Blue and Bugatti Blue (Yes Bugatti is a French car but Ettore never forgot where he came from)

Most of these colours have a reason - as in British Racing Green.

We - the British - race in Green. As a Thank You to Ireland we adopted Green to say thanks.
(Ireland - all of it - was still British then)

Years back when I did still watch Superbike races (the good ol` times when Foggy was still there) Yamahas were white, Suzukis yellow and Kawasakis green :)

OK OK

Lets clarify. A partial list (off the top of my head) the national colours were - when there were national colours

England Wales & Scotland - British Racing Green (BRG)
Ireland - Green NOT BRG
Italy - Blue Royal/Dark
France - Pale/Sky Blue
Spain - Yellow
Germany - White (became silver under Auto Union/Merc 1930s when they stripped off all paint to save weight!!)

when national teams ended 1930s these colours became of historical interest only BUT
red is NOT Italy's national motor racing colour - it IS blue.

Red is the racing colour of Scuderia Alfa, a close shade of which Enzo Ferrari adopted when he left Alfa to set up Scuderia Ferrari.

Maserati represented Italy and so raced in Blue - when Alfa raced they couldn't use blue because it was Italy's colour which was then used by Maserati because Fratelli Maserati (also from Bologna) represented Italy so Alfa adopted red. Enzo picked up red, a different shade from Alfa, when he left Alfa and founded Scuderia Ferrari.

Enzo called this paint Rosso Corsa, racing red, and Ferrari have raced in it ever since.

It is NOT Italy's colour it is Scuderia Ferrari's colour

End of rant

They say what I have always known: Italy = Rosso Corsa, UK = British Racing Green and so on...

Ciao

Actually it should be "azur" as the football team, but the choice of Ferrari gave a new trend to the color of further paintings. In the 80's the "scuderia Italia" choosed red for its formula one cars

It sure was a lot easier to follow the race when ,as you say yams were white , suzi's yellow............ If your looking for a ducati amidst the pack remember it might not be red :)
