Ah . . . I'd go with the black - well, satin black, actually, cause I'm a little bit biased as you can see with my avatar and this picture!

Whilst straight black and red are nice colours, is there anyone with some artistic talent who could submit a colour scheme that is not obvious but which would also be considered beautiful or elegant.

The tri-color above is not beautiful, but could any such paint scheme on this bodywork be applied such that it is beautiful?

Would a scheme something like the repsol honda scheme look good, or will this bike only ever look good in a single paint colour, and is the best colour black?

Have you checked out our gallery? There is quite a lot to see - some good to even great - some others - total abominations.

I first saw a satin black Paso in there marked as unknown owner or something like that and I traced it to a guy in the Netherlands.
He said the color was a repaint with factory Ducati's satin (matte) black. I believe the paint was called something else actually but it was a standard color for the early Monsters.

I think if you can hit a dealer's showroom that may help you decide.

Hi all,

Yes, it has a tatty original owners manual and a slightly worn but complete tool kit, both of which are sitting in my workshop...

Since the guy who owns the '87 Limited my father bought new won't relinquish it to me, I thought this Tricolore would be a nice substitute. Not much wrong with it, good records and I suspect that Eraldo Ferracci had a hand in the preparation of the bike for its original owner. We used to spend time around Eraldo's shop in PA when Dad had his early 851 and a Paso done up in F1 colors rings a bell from that time period. Who knows, the quality of the work done is way above and beyond what one would expect from a hasty job and the matching handmade Corbin is unrepeatable, so no matter who did it, it was done well. I'm currently waiting for the roads to clear to give it a run; forecast says 63F on Saturday, I can't wait.

As to the bike, it sports fresh NOS Michelins that aren't too hard, 38mm Dell'Ortos with K&N conicals like the ones Dad got from Reno Leoni/Jimmy Adamo to replace the Weber on his Limited in '87, nice Staintune cans and plenty of other obvious fettling. Records state the belts are a year old with next to no miles on them, so that's also good.

Incidentally, has anyone got a rear mudguard sitting around spare suitable to this machine? To me, it just doesn't look right without one.

Cheers

I just picked up a 1987 and will be picking up some used plastic that I can do this with! does anyone make a Carbon front fender for the paso?
