Yesterday I sent this guy a message on ebay; I just couldnt let this charade go on any longer

"Dear tink1st,

Good evening, I'm sure you have recieved some emails pertaining to your asking price. IMHO and with years of 750,906, and 907 experience you are asking just too much for the bike. The maket reflects a mint 907 with under 2K miles selling for 5K. There are very few people collectors included that prefer the tri-color. I can understand if you don't want to sell the bike, thats cool; but if you do and you want some cash I would start @ 4.5K or 5K, you may have some interest at that point. This is by no means a bash just some friendly advice; after all you do own a ducati, you can't be that bad... Have a good evening."

He sent me this.

"hello and thank you for ur email i do understand where you are coming from yet i did alot of research i found 2 of the same bike and to be honest one is selling it for 18000 and the other one is selling it for 22000 will it sell i dont know but they did only make a 100 of those styles bikes it happens its cool if not then it aint meant to be for the bike to be sold again thank you"

Anybody know of these two mystery bikes for 18k and 22K?
And...I forgot to say I think thats still a tad too much for the bike w 18K even if its got a novel of service records, MO would be at a stretch $4.5k tops, even at that point the buyer would have to be naive or in love....

He is confused, on occasion a 1098 S Tricolore may reach the neighborhood of 20k's
The current blue book on a Paso is 2330 the 907ie is 3380

Not too long ago an F1 750Sport Tricolor went for 10.5 thru Bevel Heaven

I just emailed him one last time with the following
It is a 907IE period, not rare,not a collectors piece,not a monster
and no where near mint Current blue book on a "mint" 907ie is 3880
This will be your last warning.Fix it and fix it now or remove the listing. I garenfuckin T you my relationship with E-bay far outranks yours. I personally will inform any one silly enough to bid and I know hundreds of Paso fanatics will join in.. take the hint while you can !!

Guessed as much -
Figured that there couldn't be anyone else out there (apart from me) dumb enough to pay £3,000 (sterling) for a 907 . . .

Crazy Higgy, just crazy.

As you may have seen - you can get a 907, in good order and quite low miles, over here, for about £1,000.

Mind you - they never seen to have toolkits . . . hmmmmmm

How to report a fraudulent listing..

In the US,can't speak for anywhere else but it could be a similar process

On every listing on ebay, under the seller info is a link Report Item

all you have to do is click it and then select the appropriate reason(s)
No other action is required usually, if it involves your money some one from ebay will call

Someone from e-bay WILL look at the listing more carefully
the offending seller then has 24 hours to fix it or risk being permanently banned

In the many years I have used e-bay I have had 4 occasions to use this sort of action
3 sellers got themselves banned for life, one was a national retailer tried to soak me for 1800 on an item he could not deliver as contracted. I had already given him 30 days, he took the money the same day I ordered. I spoke to the president of the company personally telling him all he had to do was give me a tracking number for the item and I would still, even though I had already received the same item, a new pool heater from a local supplier for 600 dollars less than his item. The CEO of that national seller so much as called me a liar over the phone saying it was not possible to get the item cheaper than he could and that he had already ordered my item so the money was gone. All the guy had to do was give me a tracking number, thats all. I would have then had 2 pool heaters :banghead: I called ebay and explained the entire situation to one of their investigators. In the US at least Ebay is very serious about such things Ebay during the phone call to them, refunded my money in full and waited on the phone while i verified the return online before even contacting the seller. The very next day at 8am est the seller was banned from e bay for life. To this day he has not been able to make restitution with ebay. It's been 3 years. I am sure it has cost him literally millions of dollars in sales.
Two others failed to respond to my complaint and got themselves banned
A fourth sold me what was listed as a complete airbox for a 907ie. I had contacted them before the purchase to make sure it had the proper top and the clips we all look for  I was told it was complete and had the clips and an unadulterated top . The item showed up but without the clips and the top had been removed and replaced with a very nice metal frame safety wired in place. It was a nice setup and well done but not what I wanted. ANd I am very much aware shit happens to the best of us
They offered me a refund if I returned it less shipping of course. I refused cuz the total shipping came to more than I paid for the item. Now I did have to file a complaint but in the end this seller refunded my money in full including shipping and did not want the item returned. I offered to return it if they sent me a shipping label.
This guy is still on ebay and rightfully so.

By far most of the listings and sellers on ebay here are legit. I have made hundreds of transactions over the years and every other item has been exactly as described and shown up in a timely manor. just these 4 had issues.
Well there was one more item that turned out to be crap but the seller stopped selling them after mine and one other complaint and it does work just a very big PIA :banghead:

I wish Paypal was as fair to their customer and active as e-bay

Now go rat this guy out for his shenanigans and watch what happens :phone: :phone: :phone:

the new listing is here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT

have fun

PS: I have no issue whatever with the guy trying to get whatever price he can. But this guys is trying to sucker someone and on one of our much beloved Paso's. That I can't in all fairness to some future Paso owner allow to happen. With luck no one is that foolish or desparate.
