Paso,
Yep, those V-tech coils is what I ment. They looked tempting to me. But at the end I bought Dyna's. the connectors have to be modified, because I want to back to original anytime. And I like those Amp. connectors.
also your edit about the single fire and dual fire is correct.
sounds maybe odd but is bloody simple. very often is that a ingredient for reliability. unfortunately there are some other issues with Harley.

Don't forget to open up your plug gap to take advantage of the higher energy coils

From what I have come across last days studying Dyna coils and its fitting to a bike, gab on the sparkplug should be 0,9 mm.
It als stated that;
- Sparkplug wire diameter ouitside is 7 to 8mm
- Can be used an unshielded cable or shielded
- Suggest to use a lager inner copper wire, more strands, some race plugs have less inner copper wire,
- Can be used with original sparkplug wire and sparkplug cap from Ducati
- Can also be used with Dyna sparkplug wire and cap of NGK
- Suggest using an NGK sparkplug for full result
- Pay attention to the polarity of the coil
- And don't mix op standing and horizontal cylinder while fitting the coil and wire.
Looking at the installation it is a easy mod to be done. See
http://youtu.be/JyAFR5TL03k
Note that the sparkplug wire connection is now at the underside of the coil, in line with the coil. Looks more easy than the exit at half the coil hight facing horizontal instead of vertical.

Paso,
maybe the fact that they are black is the reason. no one would like a lime green Ducati.

Most plugs should be opened to their individual maximum gap..go to the manufacturer's page to look them up
I generally open mine up till the engine stops missing under load
I believe the black dynas are the 5 ohm type

So not usable on the Ducati's as these need 3 Ohm versions.

wrong. 3 ohms is the lowest resistance that you`re allowed to use to not damage the ignition modules.
G.
i.e. Bevelheaven write in their shop:
... Use these 5 ohm coils for general street riding.
... Although these 3 ohm coils can be used for general street riding, these are better served for higher RPM race applications.

But, when she runs better as before, I get over that soon.
