Bottom screw makes no difference (or at least it din't on mine - Its seized solid!)

I am really not sure what the screw is for. I asked the gentleman I bought the bike from, and he had no idea either.

That screw caps off a drill way that feeds oil up into the pump.

I cant remember as well, but I tend to think you have to loosen the bottom screw/bolt to remove the screen/strainer ass...perhaps paulmozzi could answer that
No. The bottom bolt should not be loosened. It blanks off an internal drilling or something and should be left alone.
