Hello Guy's, its bin a while. But I worked hard on the Paso.
Not everything went smoothly though and I had to overcome some problems:

Don't mind the background
First I replace the dustcaps of the frontfork

New

Then we worked at the Disks. It seems I bought two reardisks in stead of two front disks. So not a good deal.

Back to the Mikuni conversion
Fitting the Mikuni carburettor
Image
With Dynojet stage 1 needles and mainjet for a Monster 750
Image
K&N snowmobile filters (the only one to fit and hopefully no rain and wet condition problems)

Making a setup to check the vacuum and adjust and synchronise the carburettors.
Image
Please pay attention at the connection of the vacuumlines. Also one to the Magnetti Marelli computer.

Vacuumline connections

This is how we solved the Fuel problems.
Image
The returnline is ofcourse connected! This is the upperline back into the aluminium container.

The engine runs fine at low revs. But I wont run past 6000 rpm.
The Idea is that the monster Jets are to small. What to do?
Shall we try the original Monster 900 Jets (which were in the Mikuni carbs)?

I have read most of the Mikuni post but can't find this problem.

Next time I will have more detailed photos of the settings!

Good work and very good pics....
Annti also would appreciate it :lick: :funny: :lick: :funny: :lick: :funny:
I also think you would have to put the 900's jets, 'cause the Paso has valves bigger than the Monster.
Where have you found the dust seals?
Let me know about it.

A friend orderd them at the local Ducati Dealer in Den Helder (of all places). He got them within two days!
Don't know the price yet.

you need to be logged in to MSN to view those images... try starting a Flickr gallery... those are viewable by the general public.

piston/cylinders are a 780cc kit. On one pic it`s the original cyl next to the new one.

Gerhard,

A friend of mine, just replaced the 750 monster jets with the 900 ss 124 jets. The engine runs better but he want to bore it up to 150. Is this the way to go????

Roy,

hard to say. You have open filters, L&W exhaust so a total different setup as I had.
Best of course would be to have the bike on the dyno.
To my info the 750 and 900 SS use a 140 main jet.

The original jetting of the 750SS is:

main jet: 140
main air jet: 70
needle jet: Y-6
Jet needle: 5C19 - 3rd notch from top
Pilot jet: 37,5
Pilot air jet: 60/1.4

The original jetting of the 900SS is:

main jet: 140
main air jet: 70
needle jet: Y-2
Jet needle: 5C19 - 4th notch from top
Pilot jet: 42,5
Pilot air jet: 60/1.4

According to the Duc twins 2 valve restauration guide there is no Mikuni equipped Duc with 124 mains. The 400SS had 122.5, the 600SS/Monster has 132.5. Depending on 750/900 model mains vary from 127.5 to 140.

You`re right btw. The heads were rebuilt, the engine case and oil pump are still the old ones. Almost everything else is new.

G.

I have a Mikuni setup guide.
It`s for all other kind of Mikuni carbs but it says how to evaluate each single jet. That`s interesting and might be helpful so if you need something I`ll throw it on the scanner.

It`s called SUDCO Mikuni tuning manual

here another way to mount airfilters on Mikuni. Received the pic from a Paso owner longer time ago (don`t think it`s good thouh as it takes the air from the hot cylinder)

My Paso have mikunis from 600 monster, with main jets 150 and 1.6 mm washers under the circlips of the needles. KN cylindrics filters (RU-0800 model). They are a little too voluminous and I have a little flattened near the frame...
My home-made mufflers are very free. I think that she could run better at high rpm with bigger jets...But under 7000rpm it is OK She drinks a lot: 8 l/100 km (if riding fast... not always legal)
