Thanks for the offer, but I went ahead and will have it sent out to NZ.
I paid 49.99 English pounds plus postage/freight 25.00 pounds. Total 74.99
This is $214 NZ dollars compared to the $1377 I was quoted for a new one. I'm happy to pay that to get the bike back to legal and original condition.

To Finnpaso; You're joking aren't you? $1377 a good price?

heres a couple of pics since i received my dual bulb headlight assembly
now i just have to find the bulb holders that go in these sockets(rear view of headlight assembly):

im hoping my local yamaha shop can help me with the bulbholders

well, my internet provider had changed and i cant upload pics to my suddenlink.net webspace yet,and so these pics are in my gallery but it wont show them in the post.

Doug, Looks very good

that bulb holder You can find easily from many car spare part shops, ask from there, cause i think, much cheaper, that in some yamaha shop.... Those are very cheap here and easy to find...

Update... I have in the last couple of days received an email from the seller stating they under quoted the freight to NZ. It should have been 65.00 pounds instead of the 25.00 I was quoted originally.
Can one of our UK members comment on whether 65.00 pounds is fair for freight to NZ? I haven't yet ascertained if this if for air or surface, or what the weight of a headlight unit is, for me to get comparative freight quotes. Any comments will be helpful.

well, ive now got two H4 bulbs for the dual bulb headlight and two pgtails to plug into them(thanks ADVANCE AUTO PARTS) and two relays to switch them plus the requisit 10 guage wire to run direct off the battery terminals.

all i need now is a few hours uninterupted in front of the bike and i should be set.

i will take some pics when i get started...............

How did U solve that "too much current drain problem", if U use both H4 at same time ?

Or did U that with some relay system? I know very well, that 2 H4 same time drains battery too low in 100km drive and have to ask some hondaman to help "push start". ECU dont like too low battery voltage and drops engine off....

£65 seems a little steep but not too bad

I sent a tail section for a TL1000 R to the states last year for around £40

The light unit is not that heavy but I guess it also depends on what they package it with.

If you can find a way to do it cheaper then I am prefectly happy to arrange it at this end. I won't be able to be very quick though as fatherhood is imminent!

I'm certainly not going to attempt to interrupt impending fatherhood for a headlight unit. I've now paid the 65 pounds after checking Royal mail and other websites for freight comparisons.

Best of luck for the birth.... don't suppose you'll get so much riding time after this. Is this your first?

HAVENT GOT THAT FAR IN THE THINKING,

gonna see how it all goes together-going to make up a harness that goes from the battery to the headlight and then use a couple of relays to switch that 12V straight from the battery to the lights on/off-thus using the standard wiring from the bike only to activate the relay-

then i plan on a little voltage monitoring project with a temporary digital guage to see how it taxes the charging system.-if it proves too much it will be simple to put back the stock pieces

just finished getting a new tire mounted/put back on the bike /chain cleaned and lubed.
Supposed to be 75+ tomorrow/bunch of us plan on a good ride

so not gonna get into this project until at least next weekend or not at all if the weather stays this way.

still have the euro taillight project to finish as well-have the euro rear lens-just looking for a real nice way to mount the bulb/reflectors in the taillight assembly-then no more droopy turn signals

ps-the guy that mounted my new tire for me has a little shop and deals in those russian military bikes + a whole bunch of other stuff(he as a 900SS) his wife has a monster

but he had the sweetest BMW R1100S BOXERCUP REPLIKA #80/300 in his shop for sale by a customer right now i am sorely tempted to get this BMW
