The only way I'm getting on a Monster in Finland is if the front sprocket is compatable w/ a 907ie. I'm not sure...do you think you can use the front sprocket from a Monster on a 907ie? Maybe we should ask Finnpaso?! I bet he knows!

AFAM part number for a 907 front sprocket (15 tooth) is 52607. Not too hard to find, I ordered one tonight. Google it and take your pick of vendors.

Now... how well it will fit remains to be seen.

Yikes, did I start this thread? I didn't realize it was that hot of a topic.

Just to add a little bit of clarity, I actually have two new sprockets, one I just got, a Sprocket Specialists 622-15, and one I got from Competition Accessories about 7 years ago, with the part number of 04082 SPCKT, Z15, C/SHAFT. The later looks like a factory part, as there is no manufacturer name, just an order, dealer, part, and bin number. Between the two I have, the 622-15 part number has a 1mm thicker shoulder on each side of the sprocket wheel (2mm thicker overall), and the 04082 part number has a 10mm shoulder on one side of the sprocket wheel, and no (zip, zero, zilch, nada) shoulder on the other side. The later would in no way work on a 907IE, the former one most likely will. (I wonder if the older sprocket I have is from a carb'ed Monster?)

I looked on Sprocket Specialists website, and the part number for the 95-99 900M is 523, and for the 00-02 900M is 622. (the one I have) So the earlier (and I guess carb'ed) monsters do have a different sprocket.

DesmoDog: Could you put a caliper on that sprocket when you get it? I'm curious if it's any closer to stock than the Sprocket Specialists one.

I finally got around to installing the new front sprocket today. It is approx. .005" (0.1mm) narrower than the original, which is close enough for me! The packaging says it also fits the 2003-2004 800SS. It looks wider in the pictures, but that's just an illusion.

Here are some pictures for people who don't trust anyone... (you know who you are!)

Looks like it was definately time to change that sprocket out!!!!

Yeah, I was pretty shocked to see it was that worn. Neeedless to say, once I pulled off the cover and saw that, I knew it was time for a new chain and sprockets, no question... ok, so maybe it was way past time for new one!

M900 carb 1993-99 front sprocket does not fit, tried today.
M900IE 00-02 had another sprocket, due to 748 gearbox w longer gear shaft.

The thing that matters is distance between toothed washer and centre of sprocket. If that is correct, it aligns and all is OK, no matter what the sprocket looks like. If done w a washer, no problemo.
