Re: Decent Exhaust Pipes?

I bought the axaust system in 1992 its a staintune exaust and header, Im not sure if they are still available but they sound great...straight through no baffles, again the chip was made for this system in Aus the name is on the chip but I dont remember..Rhino wrote:Claude - Where did you get thse amazing pipes - How much? Rhino if you change the cans but not the chip it will tend to run lean, like higgy said the stage one or exaust only chip should do the trick

The court went ok...back again in a few weeks

Cheers Claude.

Re: Decent Exhaust Pipes?
Claudes whole bike is amazing!
now those pipes and the crossovers, are they there for sound or performance benefits?
Most V8s have a crossover pipe mostly for sound, unless you have an "X pipe" that merges both manifolds, so one pulse pulls/sucks along the gases from the other manifold, but 907 pipes the crossover is at 90` so to my thinking it is only to sound good. Any thoughts?
You can also ceramic coat the pipes to stop them rusting, sort of looks like shiny aluminium.

Re: Decent Exhaust Pipes?
Here's the bad news from Staintune, OZ, today :
-------------------------------------------------------
Our Conti S2 mufflers are 660mm long.
The inlet tube is 41mm dia.
The mounting bracket hole is 310mm from the inlet end of the muffler
The mounting hole is 60mm above the muffler.
I am not familiar with the set up on the Paso but if your customer can make this work on his bike then we are happy to sell them to him.

----------------------------------------
Oh yeah - I'm sure they are happy to sell them to me. As I am nowhere near my 907 I can't even check the measurements. And even if they will fit - and they're not jiggged to fit - I still don't know (and they don't tell me) if I need a re-map for my chip or indeed a new chip.
I think that I'll get a pair of cans custom built here and have my chip re-mapped over here
Sad though because Claude's pipes/bike etc look absolutely A1-first class. (Jealous? Moi?)

Re: Decent Exhaust Pipes?
I have Conti replica and the same type that Claude has. The Conti has a different end, well like a Conti, where Claudes end[!!] is different to the Conti end cap.
Both are marked 'Paso'.
Why not email Gowanlochs or Italspares who is on ebay, he sometimes has Conti reps for Pasos

Re: Decent Exhaust Pipes?
thanks fo all the complements about my rig, I think my head won't fit in my helmet anymore
Rhino, I had a look at the measurement on my bike and between inlet and mounting bolt hole is 430mm then the whole thing is jigged...not straight (see pic) not as easy as I thaught, you might be wright in finding a good exaust engeneering shop near your place to build you one.
have a look at other work they have done re quality of finish

Nigel..been a while since the last ride (northern loop) Im looking forward to the next ride

Re: Decent Exhaust Pipes?
Claude
I will follow your sound advice and have the whole set-up built to order here and re-chipped here as well. At least that way I can keep an eye on the whole thing.
Expect to get the work done before next Spring - but - before I get the pipes done I have to get the bike re-commisioned as she's been standing in a private collection for years.
I will, of course, keep y'all in formed.

Re: Decent Exhaust Pipes?
about 15yrs ago I had most of the visible bolts goldplated, but a few are showing signs af corrosion, so I paited the corrosion with similar paint, I will do the whole thing again but different procedure a bit more professional, Im not sure if I will use stainless bolts painted with the same gold paint as the calipers or copper coat then gold plate the steel bolts...I never really liked the black fairing boltsFinnpaso wrote:Have You painted all screws in Your 907 ???

Re: Decent Exhaust Pipes?
I must say Claude - even though I still haven't seen the bike yet - all the reports I get from my Italian-Welsh mates (the Taffia as we are known!) is that she's got a couple of paint chips but is otherwise of display standard. At 1,900 miles she's not even properly bedded in. Your bike is stunning - I'm going to print off pics of your bike to take with me to the exhaust engineer to copy. Imitation as they say is the sincerest form of flattery !!
Once re-commisioned I'll have to take great care for the first few hundred miles before I wring her neck.
But that day will come . . .
I've organised the purchase of a two bike trailer so both the bikes will be taken to a trusted local expert to be properly checked out, fettled, and "sorted" ready for the road. Then I'll take the Paso to have the new pipes made to fit her and then to a rolling road and - if she needs it - re-chipped. I'll let y'all know the results.
Will keep y'all informed. Will post photos too - but don't hold your breath.
Many many Thanks

Rhino thanks for your nice comment re my 907
looks like you have a healthy bank account...two bike trailers...then I saw what you do for a living...you people charge like wounded bulls!! no wonder
I spent a fortune with solicitors in the past two years...good to see youre spending some of your cash towards the preservation of the aging Paso
