Well we can't let these Engineers get too far in to the lead.

I work for a computer software company in the development section. Chalk another one up for IT.

Engineers lead again!

(Just recounted and noticed Wigg's post)

Hey, wiggs! Hows it going? I just got a little rolling mill for the jewellery work, hoping also to use it for the buckle. Trying to figure out how to do that, with it's small capacity.

how about some nice paso lapel pins in silver?

Yeah! I'm sure the rolling mill could do that. I'll probably try that first. But it'll take a while, because first I have to re-integrate myself into the working world. Bluddy good idea, thanks Mike!

lapel pins, i like that. the bsa gold star pin on my leather coat looks lonely, a ducati pin would keep it company. put me down for 1 also along with your buckle.
i'm not sure what a rolling mill is but glad you have a handle on it.
grand pooh bah, taken from the flintstones? congrat's on the milestone.

Skins, please keep us posted ... besides being interested in seeing the process, your work & its evolution - I'm very interested in purchasing some as well. ;)

I have one of the cloisonne Paso pins, would you like some up close photos of it for ideas?

Yes please, Mike. cloisonne work is beyond me - if I'm to do a good job on anything, I've got to keep it simple. but I'd be most interested to see it, for the aesthetics.

Also, Mike, please give me the dimensions of the item - length, height, and thickness. In millimeters, please. Thanks.

PS: I have no idea where such a wonderful title comes from Wiggs, but thanks. I sure feel proud of it!

Wiggs, some rolling mills are huge - bluddy great rollers squeezing out sheets of steel in factories - but a jewellers rolling is a small strong frame with two or more rollers, the gap between them adjustable, which can shape metal longitudinally, and also put patterns and designs onto metal. If you type 'jewellers rolling mill' into Google, you'll see them. Hi Melody!

This is going to be a big step up for me too, Red. I haven't been making jewellery very long. So far just open-link chain bracelets and necklaces, but mostly earrings - mostly silver, just a bit of gold. A couple of rings - silver and gold. So far just simple forming and joining. Working the surface of the metal in this way is quite different, with a number of possible techniques to choose from. I just hope I can make something good for you guys.

Skins, I am sure that your love of Jewellery making combined with your love of the Paso will ensure that the end result will be a quality product we will all be proud to display.

I was actually given a pair of silver cuff links recently, they are a motorcycle that actually bares a good resemblance to a Paso. I will photograph & post up for you to check out.
