Front brake master cylinder switch conversion

Post by Max »

I have had problems with my front brake switch not turning on the brake light on time. This is a safety matter and we should all take care of it. I found out that Brembo has micro switches for the same master cylinders and could be used with no or little modification. You can purchase the micro switch and mount it on the existing master cylinder. The kit comes with everything needed and the Brmbo's part number is 110.4418.12. The cost was about $8.00 dollars. I am very happy with the result and highly recomend it. Now, I am trying to use a microswitch for the rear and will post the result.

Taking the load off of any switch by a relay will increase it's life and relaibality. Specially, the switches that are no longer available should be protected this way. The link below by David DuBois shows how this is done.

Hmm, microswitch on the rear? Mine uses a hydrualic pressure switch. By the way, if you want a new pressure switch, Parts Unlimited sells 'em, they distribute them from K&S. $15 or so I think. Don't know what Ducati gets for one, if they're even available.

On my Paso, I upgraded to the 95-98 748 brake and clutch master cylinder. See pics on my post on Lowering My Paso. My Paso came with the world's worst master, a Nissin with a brake lever like a knife edge! Not OEM, but as I recall, the stock wasn't much better. The 98 master cyl is good, but I put it on the Paso because I got a '99 up to put on the 748, which is awesome! More adjustable, better feel. Came with the better, 2 pin calipers, wow can those things stop! I don't know if there is a better setup, although I've never tried a Brembo Radial....

Some day I'll find out what modern Brembo calipers will fit a Paso!
The $900 Paso: DellOrto's, Dyna 5 ohm coils, Ignitech TCIP4; finally, a new set of tires! Goldentyre GT070/071

The bike is gone, but the nightmares continue...

Mike,

I upgraded to the Bremo 4 pad Radial calipers on my 748. Can you say "dropping the ANCHOR". A huge improvement over the stock setup. I added a radial master at the same time which gives incredible feel and control. 1 finger stoppies.

Dont'worry Antti,
this day will arrive also for you.
I wanted to buy the Discacciati radial master cylinder, but for the same price (200 €.) I have found a couple of 999's master cylinder as new! :lick:
I already had a couple of full floater rotors. :lick: :lick:
I'm only waiting for the 4 piston calipers and then I will mount all on my bike.
Soon.
