Guys,
Does anybody know if there would be any problem with mounting a 180-60-16 Dunlop tires on Paso. I think there is enough room on the sides for extra wide tire. The rim is 5 inches wide. Is that going to be a problem ?

Did you measure the space between your tyre and the chain?

what type of tyre has this size
I know only a Avon with this size
180 ist not the right size for a 5" rim. 160 or better 170 is right
I belive that this tyre will not fit without modifikation. your chain has not enough space. It´s necessary to move the chain.

ved with 180/55/17" on a 906 :neener:

Ved is right, a 180 on a 5" rim is going to give you a more triangulated profile. This may not be a bad thing on a Paso! Paso's have "unique" handling... This may help, although I found dropping the front a bit was the perfect fix. It will probably make the bike want to "drop in" to turns more, and not resist turning in. The question you'll have to answer for yourself is, does it turn in too much, or not stop turning in once at max lean?
You'll have to mount the tire and see how wide it is, because a 180 on a 5.5 is going to be wider but less tall than a 180 on a 5.0. And I doubt you'll find anyone who has a 180 on a 5.0" to give you that measurement.
That being said, I'm going to find a way to put my leftover 180-55/17's on a Paso! It will undoubtedly involve spacing the chain and sprocket over, along with the brake rotor and axle issues.

There`s a company in Germany offering this conversion with official homologation.
Chain and sprockets need to be changed to 520.
Side and center stand lengthened and front fender raised.
used are Avon
130/70-16 AV45 AZARO front
180/60-16 AM23 rear
The rear tire is not a heavy weight Goldwing tire, but this one (VR rated) which is also used on some classic racers.
You`ll find it under "CUSTOM" and it`s recommended for use with a 5" rim.
http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/Pro ... &SubCat=21
You`ll find also all measures here.
"AM22 & 23 Track Formula
An advanced tread compound and scientifically designed casing ensure the Track Formula gives good handling, grip and comfort in all conditions. On-track development has resulted in a tread contour that ensures an impressively large footprint at all lean angles, for a first-rate feeling of reassurance. And as a bonus – these tyres look great!"
Of course the chain adjuster will have to be turned as far back as possible to give you a little bit more space in the front limiting you in chain adjustment, but if the chain is regularly taken care off this shouldn`t be a big issue.
This will be my personal choice as soon as I get my Paso back on the road.

This part I don't understand?

What do you mean with this?

I have read from somewhere, that some very early 750 Pasos came with some other chain, than 520.... Maybe this conversion kit came same time?

A guy from DOCGB called Spaggy has published hissolution in the UK Desmo magazine. I give modifications to the front and rear to allow for other tyres to be used with a Paso750/906. It's really good...
I will scan and put a link to a file people can download later today.

I found out that the size 5" rim will work on 180/60/16. Now, keeping the 16" wheel, is there any other modifications needed besides the spacing the front and rear sprockets to clear the chain ? Does any body know ?
