Chain Alignment

Post by Duc750 »

I knwo the 750 has issues with the front and rear sprockets not lining up on early bikes causing premature chain departure

but has anyone experienced this on the 907 ?

The reasson I ask is I have just got hold of a new sprocket from Ducati and it is for the 900ss/Monster as the 907 specific part number is not available anymore. Baines racing have advised me I may need to shim the sprocket in or out to get the correct chain line. Anyone else any experience of this ?

That was ONLY early 750 Paso problem, NOT 907ie!!! Those 900SS/Monster front sprockets DONT FIT TO 907IE, what needs EXACT 907IE front sprocket !!!! I have played with those soo much, that i know.... Its still available from Ducati dealer(Z=15), but very difficult to find 14 to 907IE. 907IE front sprocket have "0 offset", that chain line is in MIDDLE of sprocket.

I'd be really grateful if on your next trip to your Ducati dealer you could pick one up for me then because part number 44910071A does not list as a current part for either Ducati UK of Ducati France and has been superceded by the 900ss / Monster part that has a slightly different offset.
I'm going to do some digging around and see if any after market parts are still different for the front sprocket!

We order spare parts direct from Italy(Ducati), so i put to next order some extra Z=15 original front sprockets... I must confirm that ordering number from microfilm still... I dont know yet, when thay are here, but one day..... I am wondering still, that U cant get those from Ducati dealer  Anyway to rear its much easier, cause all Monster/SS sprockets fit to 907IE also, but 906 and 750 Paso have totally different carrier/sprocket. I use big Z=46 from small 620 Monter in rear in my 907IE, what fits very well to my short trips to twisty roads  "Jap guys" are wondering my acceleration.... :funny: :funny: :funny:
