stupid question about fuel tank

Took the tank off to paint the bike and cant remember which of the tubes at the right rear of the tank is the return and which is the vent.

My US bike did not have a canister for gas vapors. That line dumps to the ground alongside the battery vent line. From previous discussion on some unused frame tabs on US bikes, I think it may have been a charcoal canister attached to the left rear frame behind the left rear side cover. IIRC a California member mentioned his bike had a canister mounted there, and I imagine it was the one for gas vapors.
