Hi.
Last time my regulator break down my local dealer fitted a regulator from a 996 Biposto (partno: 54040131A) the charging is working great, the only problem is I lost the charge warning light because of the different wiring. Dos anyone have a sugestion on how i can hook up the lamp again
I have mounted a cheap type voltmeter so i can see how the bike is charging so it is really not a big problem but i would anyway prefer that it was working as it should.
Thanks
Håvard

Hi Havard,
when you fit the new style 3 phases regulator the battery light is lost.
You can't do anything for it.

Its just so! There is NO anymore that wire for warning light in "new type" regulators, but that Voltage meter hookeed sometimes is not so bad idea....

Ok, thanks

that was what I suspected anyway, I have been studying the wiring diagram

without finding any solution to it.

It's what we in the USA call an "idiot light". All it means is that it shows when something might be wrong. No details of the problem. The volt meter is a better solution in the long run.

The new "retrofit" reg/rec kit that Ducati sells just doesn't have the instrument lead. The aftermarket reg/recs I've seen do.
Also- I couldn't get the new Ducati reg rec to fit in the stock location, and I spent hours on it. I ended up mounting it under the headlight by modifying the aluminum plate they supplied with the kit.

Do you mean the Electrex RR51?
Yes, the "idiot light" would work.
But, I've say this idiot light is not too much idiot. It tells you have come back to your home quite quickly.
