I have been shopping for a Ducati for a couple of months now. I have found a 90, 906 with 24,000 mi/39,000 km for $3000 USD. Are there any problems unique to the 906 (16" wheels, webber carb, wireing upgrades, small brakes, I know a little about).
I am guesing that a 906 has about the same value as an equal 750 :umm: .

Should I buy this 906?

750 Paso have same price level, as 906, but ALL depends condition of bike!!! That make price, if thinking so old Ducati, as Pasos are... Anyway 906 have more power, than 750, that is good, but thinking that "more power" with MUCH higher WEIGHT, so that power/weight balance is same in those 750 and 906, and then much lighter 750 Paso is better to drive in curvey roads(easier to handle in curveys, cause lighter!!!). 906 have JUST same "problems", as 750 Paso have.... Sorry(i near forget), one more: that "not so good Marelli ECU". 750 with realible Kokusan system beat that easily... I wouldnt pay ANYTHING more from 906, than 750, if both have same condition. U can read plenty of those 750 & 906 Paso "problems" from many topics from this site. 907IE is much better bike in near all meanings, but hard to find clean one with good price....
Ps, thinking those awfull 2 piston Brembos in heavier 906, compared to lighter 750... I think, FIRST modification to 906 is to put much better brake systems to front, what it have originally !!!! Those guys know, who have 2 piston Brembos AND 4 piston Brembos to compare.... I had, but luckily NOT anymore, cause i upgrated my 750 front brakes with 907 system, surely with steel braded brake lines... HUGE difference !!!!

It's not easy to find a good Paso, and I also long time have searched the mine (a 907) that certainly wasn't perfect.
So, the most important thing is the condition of the bike.
39.000 Km. for a 16 years old bike are not much, but you have to check the good shape of the whole bike, because the spare parts are very expensive and by now they begin to lack.
Later, you can do any modification to improve the braking, the carburation and the electrics that are not so good, preserving all the original parts because those bikes are starting to be collectible.
Ciao

Very good, Frankie !
Garnet: Still one thing: I think(cause i keep my ears open... ), that original Weber function better, in 906, than in 750... Anyway, if Ill be You, i would still wait some 907IE, (or 750Paso)...
Btw, was that Your looking 906 with clutch slave in right(older modell), or in left(later modell)??? Anyway both are enough good systems, if keep places clean...

I have not yet seen this bike, but it has been with the same owner since 1992. To me that is usually a good sign . It still has the Webber and is claimed to only have a minor hesitation off idle. The owner says he is very fussey about maintanence and if the carb was a problem it would be fixed or gone. The bike has new tires, belts and valve adjustment as well as he still has the stock exhaust and seat that have been changed .
I was not looking for a 906 but this one popped up and sounds OK and the price is about the same as a good 750 and a lot less than a good 907. Probably when I see it the bubble will burst .

It seems a good bike, if has only an exitation at idle!
Besides, the maintenaince is also very expensive and the tires are also very expensive and they are starting to lack.
When I bought my bike, I waited for a 907 which is a more modern and reliable bike (17" rims, brakes, electrics, etc.).
No matter, the price is not too much, and if only is like he tells you, it could be a fair bargain....

Most important is condition of bike! That cant know, before see her.... Surely, if owner have something to prow, how maintains have done, it helps alot to do decison.... If seller and buyer are satisfied to price, then nowbody else have nothing to say to deal... SIMPLE!
