I tried to check the status of the ignition timing by shining a friends timing light through the glass window on the port side of the bike.

At over 2700 rpm the light shows the advance mark holding steady, bright and true, with nearly no variation. This is in keeping with the manual's reccomendations.

At less than 1700, as per the manual, I did not see the two timing marks, just one. However, the mark is jumping around so much that I just may not be able to distinguish the the marks.

Like many Paso's, mine runs super cold blooded, and is not altogether steady at idle. I wanted to check the timing in order to isolate the low-speed running issue to the problematic Weber carb.

Is it possible that I have a timing issue as well? Any ideas of how I can check?

Any help or ideas, please let me know. I have the Kokusan ignition. (praise be to Allah)

The jumping mark at low RPM is probably caused by ignition misfire. I will guess that you are using an inductive pickup timing light, not one inline. The misfire can be caused by a few things so you will need to do some checking of the wiring and the high tension leads.

What's the voltage at the coils at low RPM? High RPM?
How old are the HT leads.
