Lengthening your Sidestand

No, this is not some silly male enhancement spam.
For some strange reason, that I have never really figured out, the Ducati engineers did not fit the Paso, or especially the Sport, with a long enough sidestand. In pictures, you often see them with a block of wood, or a rock under the sidestand foot. I have tried several other Ducati side stands, and they all seem to be the same. I currently have a Monster stand on my Sport (aluminum bracket and alumunum rod)
I just found the perfect foot to add to the short sidestands. They are toe brakes, or stoppers for roller skates. For an example go to skates.com and search 'stoppers'.
Nice and strong, one screw hole in the middle, inserted metal plate and stylish. Comes in a variety of colors, and at $6 - 8/pr., its easily the cheapest solution going. Just drill and tap a hole from the bottom of the foot of your side stand. I used a 6mm bolt to hold it on. I didn't even have to sand it down to fit the correct angle. Makes the bike sit at a nice correct angle. Couldn't have asked for a better height.
Added benefit is if you forget and leave your sidestand down, the rubber will give a bit and it won't pitch you off your bike. It also increased the size of the footprint on the ground, which is never a bad thing. (why are sidestand feet so small?)
As with all rubber products, the best way to sand or shape them is a wire wheel on your grinder. Works wonders.
Cheers,
