I went to the Meremere Champion Dragway last night for a work night out and had a great time. What a way to spend a few hours.
I had never done this before so I have no idea if these are good times for our bike. Keeping in mind the scarcity of our tires, I didn't do any burnouts to warm up the tires so they were all cold tire runs.
My best for the night. :D
R/T .014
1/4 13.138
Kmh 161.53

I did a few runs next to a 999 that was running in the low 10s so I felt kind of slow but it was great fun.
I hadn't really practiced trying to get the bike of the line quickly before. I had quite a bit of wheel spin but the bike was strait and smooth. At no time did it feel dangerous or like I was sending the bike or me to an early grave.

The boss had his AMG S63 there and he was not sparing the tires. It's pretty amazing watching a 2 ton car running in the 12s.
My wife and I also put her BMW740i down a number of times which is also a 2+ ton car and that runs in the low 15s.

A really fun thing to do if you get the opportunity.

I've not spent much time around dragstrips, but that sounds like an excellent reaction time. I'm curious, did you try changing up anything to see if you could improve the E.T. by doing so, i.e. tire pressure, different air filters, etc?

edit: I guess that was partly, a silly question. I can't see anyone out there removing body work while on the line, hehe.

Hi Skins (the philosopher) I did a PSAO search on youtube.

No photos I'm afraid. We were all having too much fun racing. We're trying to make it into an annual event. We did it 2 years ago for the first time before I had the PASO.

For me it was the first time I had really grabbed a hand full of throttle before letting go of the clutch so I didn't know what the bike was going to do. After that it's just tucking my 6'3" in as best I can, being straight, taking it to redline in each gear and being assertive with the gear changes. The bike would be in the 12s with more practice on the starts, some warm tires and a rider that is 20 or 30kg lighter would help too.
