Congrats to Stoner for his win at Qatar! Round 1 to Ducati. nice to see Ducati pick up in '07 where they left off in '06!! once again, the Ducati was the fastest bike in the pack. that was obvious down the straights. Capirosi crashed but is not hurt and will hopefully make a better showing next round in Spain.

Seems, that Stoner is very strong this eyar, if any "shit" dont happen... And seems, that Ducati managed to make very good, sorry, FAST bike for this year... At least, if thinking maximum speeds in fast tracks... There was huge difference to Rossis jap bike. Anyway Rossi from Italy in Ducati would be surely best ever combination...

I've always wondered about that, why doesn''t Rossi ride for Ducati? on the other hand, if you put the best rider on the fastest bike, motogp wouldn't be very interesting. Rossi would win every race! i suspect the people who organize motogp would prefer Rossi doesn't ride for ducati in order to keep things more competative.

The Rossi thing is complicated but I was told by Minoli that they just can't afford him. This was also when Rossi was saying he wouldn't ride for cigarette money and Marlboro was the sponsor. He later did ride for Cig. money...

yeah, i heard it was a money thing also. but really, it doesn't add up. doesn't the bulk of his income come from endorsements and not from yamaha or honda or ducati? i read that last year Rossi was one of the highest paid atheletes in the world, earning somewhere around 30 million euros, 25 of which was from endorsements and 5 million from yamaha. So if Ducati only paid him, lets say, one million instead of the 5 he gets from yamaha, he'd still make 26 million euros, give or take. and he'd be riding the best bike. and he's italian! you figure he'd be willing to forego a few million euros to ride for ducati. is he so money-hungry that he won't ride for ducati unless they match yamaha? Since the bulk of his income comes from endorsements it's not as if riding for ducati would put him in the poor house. i hope it's something other than money that keeps Rossi from riding for Ducati.

At the time when he was available, all Ducati had was Marlboro money and he wanted something like 15Mil. Ducati could not come up with that so they passed. Ultimately Rossi did ride for cigarette money so I guess it is all about the money. Even at his level.

A second issue would likely be Jerry Burgess. He and Rossi run the team and development. Yamaha couldn't have gotten any lower before sigfning Rossi so they gavce them full run of the shop. I don't think he would get so much freedom at the Corse shop.

And what did all that "shop freedom" get Rossi on saturday? He looked like he was dragging an anchor down the straights. I'm sure you're right - I can't imagine Ducati Corse would give anybody, even Rossi, full control. On the other hand, when the Ducati and, (to a lesser degree), the Honda are passing you like you're going backwards, maybe it's time to rethink your position.

I bet every time Stoner passed or pulled away from him on the straights, Rossi said to himself, "Damn!, I want a Ducati! Where can I get such a Ducati? Oh, that's right, but for my greed, I could have had such a Ducati!!" I would like to have been in the Yamaha paddock after Saturday's race. I'm sure Rossi had some choice words. Of course, since he has full control there was nobody to blame except for himself and Burgess. I don't think Rossi will stand for being passed like that all season. The question is: Can he do anything to stop it? Burgess has his work cut out.

Sure it was great to see a Ducati Especially with Aussie Stoner on it win & slingshot past Rossi but Valentino was catching back up & often passing on the bends. It is also one of stoners favourit tracks. great to see but I don't know that we should get too carried away & think Ducati will walk away with it all season. Hope they do, but think they will have to fight really hard. Great racing though

Don't worry,
at this moment Ducati would be the MotoGP's fastest bike, but I don't think that Yamaha and the other brands will accept it.
I would like if Ducati won the fight, even if I'm a Rossi's fan.
No matter, I'll enjoy this spectacle!!!

It was great to see a Duke power passed everything on the straights but we all know that the vast majority of circuits are aliitle bit more twisty with slightly shorter bits inbetween the bends!!

Duke's doing well in Moto GP and will improve in WSB too !

Not a bad ride for Stoner, no long straight to blast away on but Rossi appears to be back for sure
