Can anybody tell me a good source to get the proper OEM paint codes for a 88 750 paso? Is it actually Ferrari red or just close to it?

Also, where the mufflers black chrome, gloss black or semi gloss origionally?

How about the handle bars/triple tree area or the frame, is that a true black, semi gloss or just a really dark grey?

Thank you

Handle bars triple tree and Grab rail depend on the bike and its age

My Bike With an IOhlins rear shock has a black grab rail and Anodised grey bars and triple.

Other Bikes I have seen have black Bars and triple and grey anodised grab rail

The Paint code is a subject for some debate as it seems basically no 750 is painted the same. Your best bet is prbably to do a search on here and go with the consensus!

Handlebars: "Paso Project" - aluminum (silver), "Pile of Paso" - aluminum (silver)
Upper Triple Clamp: "PP" - aluminum (silver), "PoP" - aluminum (silver)
Grab Handle: "PP" - chrome plated, "PoP" - no idea

Interesting tib-bit...
Fork sliders: "PP" - bare aluminum (no sign of a coating), "PoP" - painted black.

According to the serial numbers, they are only about 150 apart, but it is the difference between a US VIN # and a Euro Vin #, if that makes much of a difference.

For a paint codes.....I have no idea.

I can assure you it is absolutely not Ferrari red. It has a small amount of orange in it. Unless another member can help you out your best bet will be to have a good paint shop match the color.

Best of luck with your restoration. Take your time, invest the best possible craftsmanship and parts and she will reward you with years of wonderful memories. Pasos are timeless Italian beauties. Unknowing bystanders at gas stations and other public hangouts commonly mistake mine for a 2007, or whatever the current year happens to be.

88 Pasos started the black triple, handle bars and grab rail. I think it is a semi gloss more or less. It is not flat or gloss.

The mufflers were black chrome more or less. They were not painted black.

The color code I have no idea. It is not an easy color to match because ducati used a pink primer underneath the red.

Good luck.

Well I don't know how to find a way to black chrome the mufflers, but I do have a plan that's close.

There are high temp spray primers available. I intend to build multiple coats to fill in any rough spots, then multiple coats of high gloss black. I will finish them like I was painting the tank, wet sanding with 1200/1500 then buffing it. It should come out perfectly smooth with the gloss of a regular paint job. Not black chrome, but very effective.

I'll use a semi gloss for the handle bars and triple tree.

I do know a great paint supplier for all the local body shops. They can make a spray can any color for $12. I only need to cover the area on the side of the fairing that looks loke a rubstrip. I think I can remove it, sand it, paint it and buff it. If the paint is not perfect, I'll have them adjust and spend another $12. No worries.

Thanks for the info.
