906 17 inch wheel conversion again

Post by ducatipete »

Hi all, have a chance of buying some 907 parts, before buying (parts are not local) I need to know what will fit first. I already have a pair of 851 17 wheels and tyres, the rear 180/55 17 tyre

1. Does the longer 907 rear swing arm have the same damper/spring suspension mounts as 906, I ve looked at 851s and 600 monster, arm looks similar to 907 but spring/damper mounts are different.

2.Can I use my 906 rear brake caliper and disc on 907 swing arm, is caliper mtg bracket in the same place???

3.Will 907 front fork tubes fit 906 fork hangers, or do I need to change whole front fork, or can I reuse 906 fork with 17 wheels. I noticed that 906 discs will not fit 17 wheel.

4. Can I use reuse my 906 wheel axles

plus any other comments you may wish to add. I will be keeping all removed 906 parts

thanks Peter

Hi Peter,

the front section of the 907ie and 750/906 swingarm are the same. The 907ie swingarm is only longer and consequently larger at it`s rear end. So mounting one in a 750/906 is no problem.
851/SS/Monster swingarms are different. The width at the engine mount is different, you`ll probably have problems with the rear header and shock also.
You can use 17" wheels also with your 906 fork, but you`ll need adapters for the brake calipers. Just use the 851 wheels with its matching discs. Could also be that you need to cut the lower front fairings a bit and also lift the mudguard as the tire may touch.
For the rear brake caliper I don`t know. Probably 906 and 907ie are the same. You won`t be able to use it with 17" wheels, though..
Yes you can also reuse your axles if you use your stock fork or 906 swingarm. You won´t be able to use the 906 swingarm axle with the 907ie swingarm.
