Hi all,
I have had a 1995 Monster 900 for the last 3 years. I just talked my dad into picking up a 1990 Paso 906.
This bike has some interesting history. Belonged to a friend of ours that died a few years back. His son has had it for a few years now but has not been riding it. So when he talked to me about selling it I had to jump into action.
His father had modded this bike a bit. From the looks of it he:
1. Put a 907 swingarm on with 17" wheels
2. Modded front for 17" wheel and looks like 320 brakes
3. Put Mikunis in for carbs
4. Installed the bar riser plates
5. Modded the upper fairing. He mated some other fairing that looks more like a SBK windscreen but still has the large rectangle light. Will be looking for your input on the type when I can get some good pics of it.
6. looks like 907 exhuast
Needless to say it looks more like a ST type model in some ways.
We plan on doing some PM as soon as possible. Mainly timing belts. Does this engine use the same M900 type belts?
It also needs a battery, any idea on generic YUSA battery number?
Right fork needs seal at some point.
As soon as it arrives in the stable I will be sure to take some pics for you guys.
We have been reading lots of great information on your site and look forward to participating in the community. I love the ducatimonster.org site for my monster. I am sure this will be the same.
Talk you soon.....

I think(!) 900 Monster have just same belts, but i am 100% sure, that 906 have same, as 907IE:
Gates Power Grip 5297-58070 x 18mm (about 32€/pair here from local auto spare part shop)
Yuasa battery to 906 from my catalog: YYB16-B just same, as 907IE again. (Here about 80€).
U can read more about front fork seals/dust scrapers here in this Paso site... Just now in 907IE section talking about these... "Marzhocchi M1R".or something....
We are waiting fotos...
Here are some helpfull guys....

I had got a 906 many years ago, so I can't well remember, but it seems to me the 906 has the same 14AH battery as the 750, even if the 16 AH can't be wrong.Finnpaso wrote:Yuasa battery to 906 from my catalog: YYB16-B just same, as 907IE again. (Here about 80€).

Surely Finnpaso lives in Finland, in "land of thousand lakes", called sometimes also "winterwoderland"( U remeber Santa Claus, who is living in north Finland, in Korvatunturi...   )But maybe U can find cheaper spare parts from another EU area, we have here very high taxes for spare parts, so also we often order parts from Germany, Italy, etc.... Btw, very many persons are visiting from UK here at christmastime, in north Finland and seems, that they are very happy to see raindeers, totally clear snow, etc.... :laugh:Duc750 wrote:

These Pasos NEED very clean electrics, what can be "fixed" also with adding some relays more, so look/search such things from topics, so You find near all, what need to know about Pasos.... Especially 750 & 906 have some common "difficulties" with electrics, but they can be solved quite easily... Btw, "Big Twins", like Ducati need battery charged well, when starting engine, so its very important thing, what U cant get from old battery... Ducati can handle normally about 3-4 years normal battery, no matter, charching system is ok, so need to buy normally new battery every 4 year.... ITS NORMAL, nothing special...Duc750 wrote:It might be worth thinking of an Odyssey or dry cell (Glass mat type) battery as theses bikes have some iffy electrics taht can make starting difficult (have a look for the wiring mods in the FAQ section)

All "big case Ducks", like 906 and 907IE uses 16Ah batteries, no matter 906 "can function" also with smaler one, like 14Ah, cause its easy to put smaler battery to bigger space, if terminals are right way... 906 dont use battery so much, cause its not injected, but i give advice: Buy so big battery, as U can put inside box, then no need to think so much it... But surely 14Ah "750 Paso battery" is much cheaper, than 16Ah one.... All depend on You in this case.... I would buy 16Ah anyway to 906...persempre907 wrote:

Btw, i called just to my 906 friend, "Foxterrier" and he confirm, that he use also 16Ah battery, but his battery had ALSO "some letters about 19Ah" !

Flyer,
You need a 19 AH battery. The model number I think is YB16-B.
Sounds stupid they call it a 16-B, but that is a fact.
Buy a battery saver ( the trickle charger that stays connected when the bike sits for extended time) and check the fluid level in the battery every 2 weeks or 500 km. They do boil the battery dry if you are not careful. That can be expensive and inconvenient.
Good riding

jomo, U are right, i check just my 907IE battery and its just that Yuasa YB 16-B and nothing about Ah:s(!!!!!), but owners manual says, that bike need 19Ah battery, so propably that "Yuasa YB 16-B" is really 19Ah... I havent check from Yuasa web site this thing.... Strange, that there is nothing about Ah:s in Yuasa battery????
Btw, does anybody know, where to find (from EU area!!!) those solar battery chargers ?????

Yes,
also in my battery is written 19 AH....
Antti,
I'm searching for the solar panels for my house, so I can tell you only about the > 1 KW ones .
For cars and bikes, I've seen only bad stuff which I don't trust.
I think the problem is the continuity of the current supply, so I guess that a good solar charger needs also an internal battery to compensate to lack of the sun, so would be too much big and heavy.
What you think about?
Ciao

Something, like that can be good investment. Remembering, that suchkind systems are used quite often in Australia.... Maybe some aussie can tell something.... (more, that Troy Bayliss only, i mean...) But, hey, i near have something very close him... Cutted finger!

My wife's 2004 Volkswagon Jetta came with a solar charger, but we've never used it. The salesman claimed that they work great. It's just sitting in the trunk of the car. We drive the car too much to have to worry about charging the battery.persempre907 wrote:No matter what, if you want try it...
