Enjoying the benefits of a track dried out by the sunshine after a downpour last night, the MotoGP riders began their preparations for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Turkey in earnest this afternoon.

The morning sessions took place on a somewhat slippery surface, with a number of riders falling victim to the treacherous wet patches. In the afternoon conditions had further improved, for a somewhat faster MotoGP free practice session.

One of the favorites for victory at Istanbul Park, Casey Stoner was in good form this afternoon to lead the way on his 800cc Desmosedici GP7. The Australian went round in a time of 1’54.200, nearly eight tenths of a second quicker than Ducati teammate Loris Capirossi as the duo made it a one-two on the opening day of practice sessions.

yes, but they couldn't hold the top two spots today. Rossi took pole position. Colin Edwards number 2, making a 1 - 2 sweep for Yamaha. Pedrosa completes the front row on the always fast Honda. Stoner and Capirosi are right behind, placing 4 and 5 in the second row, putting the Ducati in the thick of things. Should be a good race!

What a race!!! Rossi self-destructs followed by his rubber...Stoner disappears into Monday! In all fairness all the top runners were on Bridgestones. Capirossi battled back hard for a well earned 3rd.

Really, Ducati is the best bike of the Moto GP.
I regret for Valentino, I think he can win, because is the greatest, but will have to work hard!!!
Ciao

I've seen a reat riding difference between '06 desmosedici and 07 one. I suspect that "crazy" Stoner kept some mechanical from gresini team and "japan" know-how...
Capirossi says that his riding style needs more torque from the engine and it's hard to learn a more "soft" riding...
Actually, Stoner seems to ride on a railway and still Loris rides a crazy horse!

Stoner Does it Again

Casey Stoner took control of the MotoGP World Championship standings with an almost flawless performance to win the Chinese Grand Prix, his third victory of the season. In a hotly contested duel with five-time world champion Valentino Rossi, the young Australian powered his Ducati to win by three seconds. American ace John Hopkins, on a Suzuki, finished third to score his first-ever podium.

I hate to be a Pain in the Ass but you MUST put the word SPOILER in the SUBJECT if you are going to reveal the RESULT of a race!!!!!

Many of us see it on a tape delay and don't want to know the ending.

Rant off......
