Wiring upgrade Choke/ idle issue

Hello All,
I purchased my Paso a few ago and am I quite happy I did so. However, I did have some issues with batteries being unexpectedly sucked dry and leaving me stranded. I did the wiring upgrade and I am happy to report that it worked out great and I now have strong spark at the coils at the massive dip in voltage I encountered previously is gone. However, when I apply the choke now the bike only revs at 1500, when before I believe it was up aound 3000. Also, after I have had the bike on choke for a few minutes and return it to idle it drops below 1000 and often dies. Any ideas on why the electrical mod affected this and what can I do to fix it?
Thanks for a hugely helpul resource for this bike and I hope to learn much more.

The two are not connected so it must be something that was moved or "upset" during the wiring changes. With the improved spark it will run better at idle and fire easier.
I hope someone else has an idea. Weber or Dellorto Carbs??

About the battery brying, test the voltage regulator: an incorrect charging, can happen a long heating of the battery (and injuries tho the ingition boxes!

) See the 750 f.a.q. digest about that.

Well, it looks like I have a bad regulator. Which may explain the residue on the exterior of the battery....hmmmm. I brought the wiring back to its original state and it ran as should. That said, I brought the bike up to 5000 and it hovered around 15.75 V and juice started boiling out of the top of the battery. I am gonna sort out the regulator before I try the wiring upgrade again. It took about two minutes to take it back to original! Anyway, thank for everyones help.

I ordered the electrex rr51 today. I am going to take the time to sort through all of the wiring, contacts, etc. while I wait for it to arrive.
Thanks,

Best choice, but also check all the wirings, as Antti told, 'cause the bad electric contacts can do many damages.

So, do you think you just dropped power to one cylinder causing the rpm drops?

I am not sure what caused the rpm drops. I was getting a reading of 11.8 to each coil and there was equal pressure coming out of the exhausts. I will try the wiring mod again once the regulator/ wiring situation is tamed.

There is a crossover in the exhaust, so checking the end of the muffler to see if one cylinder is running doesn't work.

Yes, better to check the temperature of the header pipes (before the X).
