Want a good battery...switch to the Odyssey PC535 gel cell...265CA, 200CCA ,14.8AH slides right in and replaces the Yuasa YB16-b. Free 2 year over the counter replacement, built to military spec., about $125 US.

I was thinking about the switch for long time.
I started a topic about it a few ago.
The only doubt is about the 14,8 AH, while the Yuasa would have 19 AH.
Any problem?

That "can be" too small, cause 907 injection needs quite alot of current, but in warm conditions can function quite well(cause engine cranks easily).... Still thinking price MORE: That military battery is not so cheap (compared to Yuasa) battery and that Yuasa is one of the best batteries, when thinking price/quality level.... Anyway i cant say, that military one doesnt function, cause i havent tested such one. Lifetime: Varta, about 3 years, Yuasa about 4 years, both with good "taking care".... Anyway big Duc engine need very strong battery,what is in full charge, when starting...

Still something: Ask, what is best charching voltage to military battery and then check, what is in Your bike that voltage!!! Normally "gel" batteries need little different voltage...

I've been running the Odyssey battery for about 1.5years (through two winters now) and find it to be more than sufficient. It's also sealed, so no maintainence other than keeping it charged after a couple of weeks of inactivity, and it doesn't spew acid overflow onto anything. Also have one on my '71 Guzzi. I've seen the website where there are a conventional battery and the "Odyssey".

In the Odyssey page is written: "The 5 second cranking power of Odyssey batteries is double to triple that of equally sized conventional batteries, even when the temperature is as low as - 40° C. ....", despite the conventional battery has 19AH, while the Odyssey only 13,5AH.



Who is able to explain it?

one of the many advantages to the gel battery is that it has a quicker charge rate compared to the lead acid battery and has an eight to twelve year design life and the 5 second cranking power is double that of a similar sized conventional battery. Personally I think they make sense but I'm not out to change the world just passing on a little information :neener:

If someone can prove, that such battery lifetime in Ducati is 12 years, i am ready to buy such battery IMMEDIATELLY, but only, if its price is "good"...

I can't really prove it unless either you take them at their word or call me in 12 years by then the tree huggers might have us all riding electric bikes!!
Anyway another way to look at it is it costs 2 times as much as the sacred Yuasa(really an Exide battery) and lasts 2 times as long so I guess its up to personal choice
